Welcome to Romania

Welcome to Romania! Meet your guide and transfer to the hotel. On the way, have a preview of what you are about to discover here with a panoramic tour of the city that takes you by the House of the Free Press, the Romanian Arch of Triumph, through the Victory Square, the Roman Square and finally to The University Square. Walking tour in the Old Town and welcome dinner at local restaurant. Read more

DAY 2

Sibiu

Travel towards Transylvania, the most famous region in Romania. Visit the Cozia Monastery, built in the 14th century. Travel further to Sibiu, probably the most beautiful Transylvanian medieval town. Settled by the German Saxons in the 12th century, the town preserved until nowadays its wonderful Old Town with colorful houses, large squares and lots of legends. During the walking tour you will see the Grand and the Little Square, the Liar’s Bridge, the Brukenthal Palace and the Lutheran Church. In the evening enjoy a traditional dinner at the locals from Sibiel with wine and brandy. Return to Sibiu and overnight. Read more

DAY 3

Hunedoara – Turda – Cluj Napoca

Travel towards west and stop at the Hunyadi Castle in Hunedoara, the greatest Gothic-style castle in Romania. After leaving Hunedoara you will visit the Turda Salt Mine, which is one of the world’s oldest salt mines. Now a defunct salt mine, the area has been transformed into an amazing underground theme park with a ferries wheel, mini golf course, bowling lane, boating on the underground lake and a sports arena. Arrive in Cluj Napoca in the evening. Dinner at the hotel. Read more

DAY 4

Baia Mare – Sighetul Marmatiei

Enjoy a city tour including Cluj Napoca’s most interesting sites, such as the Saint Michael’s Church – built in the 14th century in a Gothic style, the Memorial Matthias Corvinus House – the oldest building in Cluj, Matei Corvin’s Statue and St. Peter’s Church. Next you visit the Desesti Wooden Church, listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Site. In the afternoon, stop in Sapanta and visit the unique Merry Cemetery, famous for its colorful tombstones with naive paintings. Dinner at the hotel in Sighetul Marmatiei. Read more

DAY 5

Viseul de Sus – Mocanita – Bistrita

Travel to Viseul de Sus and take a ride by the steam-powered 100-year old Mocanita train, which includes a breathtaking scenery and also a delicious barbeque lunch. While still in Maramures, visit one of the famous wooden churches of the area, the Bogdan Voda Church. In the evening arrive in Bistrita, where you check-in and overnight. Dinner at the hotel. Bucovina Painted Monasteries – Bistrita

Visit this morning the most famous monasteries of Bucovina, the Voronet Monastery and the Moldovita Monastery. Built in just three months and three weeks in the 15th century, Voronet is known as “The Sistine Chapel of the East”. The Moldovita Monastery was built in the 16th century as a fortification. Enjoy the explanations of one of the nuns, who will present you the frescoes “Siege of Constantinople” and “the Last Judgment”. In the town of Vama you can visit the outstanding Painted Eggs Museum. Return to Bistrita in the evening and have dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Bistrita. Read more

Targu Mures – Sighisoara – Brasov

Drive to Targu Mures and visit the Roses Alley, where you can see the Cultural Palace and the Orthodox Cathedral. Continue towards Sighisoara, a small town founded by the Transylvanian Saxons in the 12th century. The medieval fortress with nine towers, cobbled streets, and colorful houses is still inhabited and was designated as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The walking tour starts with a visit at the Clock Tower, and continues with the birthplace of count Dracula and the Church on the Hill. Transfer to Brasov. Dinner at a local restaurant. Read more

Bran – Rasnov – Brasov

Drive to Bran village and visit the famous Dracula Castle. The castle was built at the end of the 14th century by the Transylvanian Saxons and has served as customs between Transylvania and Wallachia for many centuries. Continue with a visit at the the Rasnov Citadel, built as part of a defense system for the Transylvanian villages exposed to outside invasions. In the afternoon, visit the well preserved old town of Brasov and discover the Council Square, the Nicholas Church and the Black Church. Traditional dinner with folklore music and wine. Read more

Sinaia – Bucharest

Visit one of the most beautiful castles in Europe: the Peles Castle. Its interiors are spectacular, presenting the finest examples of European art, Murano crystal chandeliers, valuable paintings and furniture. Transfer to Bucharest, the capital city of Romania. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of one the most dynamic and cosmopolitan cities in Europe which is also the 6th largest capital city in the European Union. Admire the University Square, the Roman Square, the Constitution Square with the Palace of Parliament (the second largest administrative building in the World after the Pentagon) and the Victory Square with the Victory Palace.
