Arrival in Cluj Napoca. Meet and greet at the airport by a local guide. The city is one of the most important academic, cultural, industrial and business centers in Romania. Among other institutions, it hosts the country's largest university, Babes-Bolyai University, with its famous botanical garden; nationally renowned cultural institutions. Have a rich buffet breakfast at the hotel. You will departure around 10 am to Baia Mare, the capital of Maramures region. We will be transferred to your host in the heart of Maramures. After a short rest, you will start your first activity "Learn cooking a traditional dinner". Meanwhile, you will have lunch. Those who are not interested in cooking may go around the village and have a drink ( local strong drink "horinka"), visit the school, meet people. Breb village 5 Nights

Have a traditional breakfast. Today you will join the locals to the Sunday service at the local church. You will have the opportunity of admiring their costumes and take part at the service. We continue to Sapanta for lunch and visit the Merry Cemetery, the most beautiful ethnographic museum in Romania. You will admire the private collection of Stan Ion Patras family. Then, you will have a visit to the oldest and the worst communist prison (part of the Romanian Gulag) and return to the hotel for a wonderful dinner. Read more

Have the breakfast at the Hotel. You will have a bus tour the most important wooden churches from Maramures, UNESCO sites and see gorgeous handicrafts. It will be a one day tour in which you will visit: Desesti, Budesti, Poienile Izei, Bogdan Voda and Birsana monastery. A visit to a hat maker, to a plum brandy maker and a still working watermill will complete the day. You will have lunch at the Monastery of Barsana and dinner at the Hotel. Read more

Today you will go for work. You will cut the grass, or pick up the blueberries in the forest, or wild mushrooms or other season activities. During afternoon you will go by horse wagon to a shepherd and see how they work, how the cheese is done, and enjoy a late lunch with them. after lunch, you might stay longer at the shepherd or could come back and visit a farm in the village. Prepare for a great day, as today you will travel by a steam train "Mocanita" - last of the Carpathian Forestry Railways and then you will have a delightful picnic. You will go with the locals on the one and only old steam train which is still working in the forest. You will enjoy the Vaser valley where no car have access and make some beautiful pictures. These railways were built for cargo and passenger services - some in the era of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, before 1920.
