The small island of Lombok is dominated by the spectacular Mount Rinjani (3726m), Indonesia's second highest volcano, semi active and held in awe by the islanders who regularly ascend the steep trail to the crater rim. We follow in their footsteps completing an introductory trek and wandering the crater to appreciate the bright emerald green waters of Lake Segara Anak. We then travel by boat to the tranquil Gili Islands where we can get relaxing.
On arrival into Lombok international Airport, you will be met in the arrival hall by our staff and transferred to your accommodation at Living Asia Resort Senggigi.
This morning will be at leisure. You will meet your guide late morning for a pre trip briefing before departing for the 2 - 3 hour drive to Sembalun Lawang. After breakfast, we begin our trek through open grassland to Pos II Tengengean at 1500m. After a further one hour ascent, we commence our steep climb to our camp on the crater rim at Plawangan II (2639m). Walking approx 6-8 hours.
After an early morning wake up call at around 3am, we will begin our hike to the summit of Mount Rinjani (3726m). We leave at this time to make sure we arrive at the top before sunrise, not only to experience this spectacular sight but also to have the best chance of getting clear views. It is a 3 hour steady ascent to the summit. From the summit we will watch the spectacular sunrise with views across to Bali, Mt Agung and Sumbawa, the crater lake below, and the island of Lombok stretching far below. We return to our camp for a late breakfast and continue our descent to Lake Segara Anak within the crater rim below (2000m). Walking 6-7 hours. Read more
Today has been set aside for a rest day around the Lake. You will have ample time to spend the day exploring, relaxing, swimming in the cool waters of the lake or soaking in the hot, natural springs, believed to have healing powers
After breakfast, we ascend to the crater rim at Plawangan 1 (2461m). This is a great place to enjoy the views of the lake from the other side. We then descend the long trail to Senaru Village (601m). We descend through thick tropical forests rich in flora and bird and butterfly life. On the descent, if lucky, you may spot the rare black monkey, known locally as lutung. We arrive at Senaru Village in the late afternoon and spend overnight at a local guesthouse in Senaru Village. Walking time 8-9 hours. Read more
This morning we drive from Senaru to Teluk Kodek and transfer to Gili Air by boat. A short walk to your accommodation, then the afternoon at leisure to soak in the ambiance of this lovely little island. Gili Air is one of the three coral-fringed islands located off the northwest coast of Lombok, and known collectively as the ‘Gilis’. They all have superb white sandy beaches, clear water, brilliantly colored fish and accessible snorkeling and diving. Read more
Today is at leisure on Gili Air Island. Gili Air is the idyllic white sand island that can easily be walked around in just a few of hours. For the active there are optional activities of diving and snorkeling or you may just wish to find a cozy hammock, relax and watch local life go by.
This morning we will transfer back to the main island and spend the day taking in the sights of Lombok. Lombok is a really diverse island, and during the day we will visit Sukarara, where we will see the various styles of weaving and textiles found on Lombok; the Pura Kalasa temple in Narmada; Mataram and the beautiful beach at Tanjung Aan. Following breakfast the trip concludes. Transfers to the airport will be arranged for your outbound flights.
We booked the Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep waterfall tours with Budi, as well as the snorkeling tour at the Gili islands. Budi was able to give us good advice on which were the best snorkel areas, most stunning waterfalls, brought us to the money changer with the best rate in town and helped us find local fruit Salak Pondo, which was on my mum and sister's wish list. He was a knowledgeable, attentive and reliable guide who helped us beyond his immediate responsibilities, provided great personalized service and made our adventure tours in Lombok totally enjoyable and memorable! Au top du top! Nous avons passés l'une des meilleures journées de notre séjour en compagnie de notre guide. Météo exceptionnel et il nous a emmener dans de superbes coins pour faire du snorkeling. Nous étions dans un bateau seul avec le guide et le pilote (pas dans les bateaux bondés de touristes). et nous nous sommes régalés et avons même eu la chance de nager avec des tortues seuls. Was supposed to hike up Rinjani (with a different company) but due to an eruption, my plans were disrupted. Their office was near my villa, so I walked in to book an alternative activity while I was in Lombok. Their tours were all private so a minimum of 2 persons was required to book a service. Because I was traveling solo, most of the tours that I wanted was not available for me. but the guys catered a cycling activity for me. of course I had to pay more. So I signed up a mountain biking activity for half a day. the trip was just me and their guide. It was a tiring and intense cycle but nice and relaxing rides through the villages.
