Open day at Leisure, time to relax

Optional: Full day Sacred Valley tour (USD 45 extra cost per person) You will have breakfast (included) and be picked up from your hotel at 8:00 am. This is a full day excursion to the Urubamba Valley visiting the colorful Indian market in Pisac where you will be able to appreciate the mixture of color and tradition. You have the opportunity to test your bartering skills, interact with the local craftsmen and purchase hand-made souvenirs. Pisac is located at the entrance of the Sacred Valley. The Valley is 31km/19mi from Cusco, and at an altitude of 2,970m/9,700 ft. After Pisac we head to Urubamba where we have a delicious buffet lunch (Not Include) at Tunupa restaurant. Then we continue on to Ollantaytambo, the oldest continuously occupied town on the American continent. The narrow streets of Ollantaytambo, along with their canals, have not changed much from the time of the Inca Empire, giving you a feeling of what it would have been like to live during this time. The last visit will be the Chinchero market. Chinchero is believed to be the mythical birthplace of the rainbow. Its major claim to tourism is its colorful Sunday market, which is much less tourist-orientated than the market at Pisac. At the end of the tour, we will return you to the Plaza de Armas in Cusco at approximately 6:30pm. The night will be free for you to eat in a restaurant of your choice. We always have plenty of restaurant suggestions for you should you require them. On the way to Puno and Lake Titicaca

After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel at 6:20am and drop off you to the Bus station. This is a great bus trip, more like a tour - it stops at four interesting sites along the way where you have guided tour on board. Andahuaylillas: Sistine chapel of South America: this church is one of the most beautiful examples of Andean popular religious art. Raqchi (Wiracocha God Temple): This was an Inca church of monumental dimensions; 100 meters long, 26 meters wide and 14 meters high. The temple is divided in two naves and each nave has 11 giant columns - huge! La Raya:This is the half-way point between Cusco and Puno and also the highest point (4335 meters above sea level). The landscapes here are stunning and typical Andean animals like the llama, alpaca and vicuña are common sights. It is also the geographic border between the two cultures - Quechua and Aymara. Pukara:This is the most important and oldest ceremonial center of the altiplano. There are interesting lite-sculptures and tombs. Upon our arrival to the bus station in Puno (arrival at 5:00pm), we will take you to your hotel where you will spend the night and meet your guide who will welcome you and provide you some extra information for the following activities. Home Stay and Uros floating

After breakfast, between 7.00am to 7:30am, we will transfer you from the hotel to the port of Puno where you will board the motor boat to take you first to the floating Uros Islands, which are located 25 minutes from the port of Puno. This is one of 65 small floating islands that exist today. You will visit two, and the guide will explain a little about the history and lifestyle of the people who have lived on these islands for many years, and you will also have the opportunity to talk with the people of these islands and visit their homes to learn a little about their lifestyle. Total you will enjoy one hour of visit floating around these islands. Afterwards we will sail towards "Taquile Island", which takes approximately two hours. The island is a traditional Quechua speaking community, full of ancient agricultural terraces and some ruins dating back to the pre-Inca times. The Taquile population was relatively isolated from the mainland until 1950s, and the importance of community and family is still very strong among them. The weaving tradition of this Island goes back to early civilizations, thus keeps elements of pre-Inca Andean cultures alive in the present. The most characteristic garments are the "Chullo", a knitted hat with an earflap; and "The Calendar Waistband", depicting the annual cycles connected to ritual and agricultural activities. When you reach the island, you walk up along a narrow path, enjoying impressive views of Lake Titicaca and seeing gorgeous little houses inhabited by the direct descendants of the Inca Culture. You will then have free time to explore the Island on your own, and afterwards you will meet the group for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will go down to the harbor to take a one-hour boat ride to the peninsula Chucuito, South of the city of Puno, where the community is located and Luquina Karina. The remarkable thing about this place is that the tourist field is new, the inhabitants of this place are very willing to receive visitors in their community, and definitely you will be received directly by the families and they will take you to their homes and spend the night. Karina community has the white sand beach of Lake Titicaca larger and hence we have for you, activities like fishing, farming. Read more

More information

  • Trip Preparation
  • A little pre-planning can make your trip go a lot smoother. Several weeks before your trip, make a list of what you will need to take with you. Make sure your personal documents (passports, visas and driver’s license) are in order and that you have enough prescription medications to last through the trip. We suggest that you make photocopies of passports, visas, personal IDs and any other important travel documents and pack them separately from the originals. Pack a list of medications including dosage and generic names. If you lose the originals while travelling, you'll have copies for easier reporting and replacement. You may consider bringing a small supply of over the counter medications for headaches and/or anti-diarrhea pills. We recommend that you pack a portable alarm clock. Avoid placing valuables such as cameras in your checked luggage. Airplane pressure can cause similar pressure in your body, most notably in ears, as well as liquid tubes and bottles.
