Spend the day discovering Cusco’s rich history and culture. You might explore iconic sites such as the Plaza de Armas, Korikancha Temple, or the San Pedro Market, or take advantage of the many cafés, museums, and artisan shops throughout the city.
Our tour starts in Cusco, where we will pick you up at 9 am. and then we will go to the train station to board the train to Aguas Calientes (also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo). The train leaves at approximately 11:30 a.m. m., although the exact time changes sometimes. The two-hour train ride is a memorable experience in itself, as we pass through river canyons and rolling hills. Aguas Calientes is the gateway to Machu Picchu, sitting in a deep gorge at the foot of the mountain on which Machu Picchu stands. It is a beautiful town that mixes traditional life with a huge tourist infrastructure, with a multitude of markets, souvenir shops, hotels and restaurants. It's also largely pedestrianized, making it a fun place to explore on foot. Aguas Calientes is surrounded by jungle-covered mountains and cliffs, and the Urubamba River flows right by the town. Aguas Calientes is also surrounded by hot springs and when we arrive you will have plenty of time to relax and enjoy a dip in one of the steaming natural springs. You will also have time to walk around the city and explore the colorful markets and the general bustle of this unique Peruvian settlement. It's an early start the next day, so we'll make sure you're settled in your hotel and all set for the next day and your first visit to Machu Picchu. To best appreciated Machu Picchu, we’ll wake up early in the morning so we can get to the citadel in good time. You’ll have time for breakfast first, and then your guide will pick you up from the hotel at around 5:40 a.m. Then we will walk to the starting point of the bus, a trip of approximately 45 minutes in the direction of the citadel of Machu Picchu. We’ll then pass through the gates into the Machu Picchu archaeological site. Here you’ll begin your guided walking tour with an experienced and highly knowledgeable guide. Our tour of Machu Picchu will last about two hours and will take you to all the most famous and most spectacular parts of the extensive archaeological complex. These include the House of the Guardian, Intihuatana, Temple of the Sun, Sacred Plaza, and other key locations. (It will depend on the circuit that the Ministry of Culture determines) And as we walk around, we’ll have spectacular views across the agriculture terraces of Machu Picchu and across to the surrounding mountains and plunging gorges. Once we’ve finished our tour of Machu Picchu, we’ll take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes where you can relax and have lunch (not included) before we board the train back to Poroy and Cusco. After making an energy recharge we will continue with the trip of approximately 50 minutes we will arrive at Paso de la Raya which is the border between the cities of Cusco and Puno at more than 14222 Ft (4335 masl) where the famous snow-capped Chimboya is located, where the Amazon River is born. As the last stop we will know. The Pukara Lithic Museum which is a culture that developed from 1600 BC to 400 AD located 106 km North-East of the city of Puno, in this museum we can find ceramics and sculptures representing zoomorphic figures, among them the famous sculpture of HATUNÑAQAC that in our times it would be translated as the supreme cutthroat. Continuing with our trip, you can take a 5-hour break until we reach our final destination in the majestic city of Puno, arrival of the bus at approximately 17:00 hrs. Regular Package | 2 Days & 1 Night Uros, Taquile & Homestay Amantani Uros Floating Islands - Amantani Our Titicaca adventure begins at 07h45. when we pick you up from your hotel in Puno and head down to the port. We’ll then take a comfortable motorboat out to the floating islands of the Uros people. These man-made islands are located about 14 km from the Puno port, and it takes about 30 minutes to get there – but you won’t be in any rush, as the scenery is spectacular. When we arrive at the floating islands, you’ll probably be amazed by the scale of these floating reed constructions. The Uros originally built these islands for defensive reasons: if a threat appeared, they could move their island homes to a safer location. The islands are made from the totora reeds that grow around the lake, and each island is in a constant state of reconstruction, as old reeds are replaced by new ones. Stepping onto the islands is quite an experience, as the springy reed floor feels strange beneath your feet. We’ll explore the main island, and see the houses, watchtowers, and other structures, all built of reeds. One of the locals will then give a brief presentation about how the islands are made, and then you can meet one of the local families to see how they live. After our stop at the Uros Islands, we’ll head to the natural island of Amantani, which is home to about 4,000 Quechua-speaking locals. On Amantani you’ll have a wonderful cultural experience, as you will stay with one of the local families. They’ll invite you into their home, where you can freely participate in any of their daily activities, including cooking and playing football! Later you’ll hike up to the highest point of the island to visit the Temple of Pachamama (or Pachatata), from where you can watch the awe-inspiring sunset over Lake Titicaca. Back at the family home, you can have a wonderful dinner with your host family and then head to the local community hall for a small celebration. It’s all great fun, and most people absolutely adore their friendly hosts! After your day of cultural immersion, it will be time for bed in your cozy room in the family home on Amantani Island. Taquile Island After a tasty breakfast with your host family, we’ll then head back to the pier on Amantani Island. At around 08h00, we’ll board our boat for the wonderful Taquile Island, which is about an hour away. We’ll arrive at a secluded and picturesque section of Taquile Island, from which we’ll set off to explore this stunningly beautiful island. We will visit the less touristy northern area, where we’ll have spectacular panoramic views across Lake Titicaca. After relaxing here for a while, we’ll hike along a pre-Inca trail, visiting the families of weavers to learn about their textile art and the rich symbolism that decorates their textiles. After a traditional lunch in a local restaurant – quinoa soup and grilled trout being particularly popular – we’ll walk to the main port and descend some steps to the pier. At around 12:30 p.m. we’ll board our boat for the return trip to Puno. When we arrive, we’ll take you back to your hotel.
