Arrival at Queen Alia International Airport Amman. After going through customs and picking up the luggage, your private driver is waiting with a name sign. From the airport, you’ll drive towards Madaba. Overnight stay in Madaba.
This morning you’ll start with a ‘city tour’ through Madaba. Visit the St. George Church, known for its mosaics of the Promised Land. Continue along other churches and monuments in Madaba, such as the Shrine of the beheading of St. John the Baptist. After a morning in Madaba, you’ll continue with your trip. The next stop is Mount Nebo. The mountain has two tops. On one of them Moses saw the Promised Land, but died and was buried. On the other top, the Biblical City of Nebo supposed to be…. After a visit to this religious monument, you continue towards Bethany Beyond the Jordan. where John the Baptist, baptized Jesus. Join the group tours and walk along the different pools and churches. (Please note it is possible to be baptized here. Contact us with your wishes!) After a full day with new impressions, you’ll go back to your hotel in Madaba. From Madaba the driver will take you to Ajloun. Here you’ll start a hike along the ancient Abraham Path. With a local guide, you’ll go from the visitor center of Ajloun to Mar Elias, where you find ruins of one of the oldest churches in Jordan which is dedicated to Prophet Elijah. After a day of walking along this path, you’ll spend the night at a local family in Orjan. An evening with traditional food and sleeping like locals. From Orjan you’ll have a short transfer to the starting point of the next walk, Beit Idis. From here you’ll continue with the Abraham Path, where you’ll be walking along the Jesus Cave and ruins of a Byzantine Church. From Amman, you’ll drive southwards via the Kings Highway, which provides scenic views over valleys. Make a stop at the Karak Crusaders Castle, the Dana Nature Reserve and when time allows, Little Petra. Overnight stay in a hotel in Petra.
Today you have a full day to visit world heritage and UNESCO site Petra. Walk your way through the mystic Siq, admire the beautiful Treasury and explore the site with its Colonnaded Street, the Theater. If you still have energy and time left, visit the High Place of Sacrifice or the Monastery to make the most out of your visit to Petra. Tonight, you’ll have time to explore the little village of Petra and/or enjoy optional activities. Overnight stay in Petra. Read more
In the morning, you will have time to relax or spend a second morning in Petra. In the afternoon, the driver will take you from Petra towards Wadi Rum. Along the way, you’ll see the landscape changing from the mountains of Petra to the moon-landscape of Wadi Rum. Once arrived in the Rum Village, you’ll continue with 4×4 jeeps for a tour along the most impressive parts of this desert. Visit sand-dunes, rock bridges and -arches, and inscriptions. After the tour, you are brought to the camp for a traditional Bedouin dinner and overnight stay in Bedouin tents. Read more
From Wadi Rum you’ll drive via Desert Highway towards the Dead Sea. The road takes you impressive mountain formations and silky sand-dunes. Before you arrive at the Dead Sea, you’ll make a stop at the Pillar of Lot’s wife and the Cave of Lot. The Bible tells the story that God’s angels told Lot to escape with his family from the doomed city of sin Sodom and Gomorrah and instructed not to look back. Lot’s wife did and tud into a pillar of salt. Lot and his two daughters did escape and stayed, in what is now called, Lot’s cave. Next, you’ll stop for lunch and a swim in the Dead Sea at one of the resorts. Then in the later afternoon, you continue your way to Mukawir to see the site where John the Baptist was beheaded, before finishing in Madaba for your overnight stay at Delilah Hotel. I just wanted to share how amazing my time was with Sandra and her horses in Wadi Musa. I arrived in April, with the heavy weight of burdens and in need of some gentle time in the desert. Gamar, Sandra’s first horse, came out and we did some exercise in the yard. Not yet used to me she took her time to come closer. And then she came to me and embraced me, so intently and intimately, like she realized I needed some support and in recognition of what I was going through. And that was day one.
