This morning, you visit the National Library, the Institute for Zorig Chusum (traditional arts and crafts), the Textile and Folk Heritage Museum and the King’s Memorial Chorten then, this afternoon, Trashichhoedzong (“fortress of the glorious religion”) and Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal (reconstructed in the 1960s). After breakfast, visit Ta Dzong, now housing the National Museum which displays antique thangkha paintings, textiles, weapons and a rich assortment of historic artifacts. You then walk to Rinpung Dzong, which has a long and fascinating history. After lunch, you drive to Drukgyel Dzong, a ruined fortress where Bhutanese warriors fought Tibetan invaders centuries ago, then visit the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang, one of 108 temples built in the Himalayas by Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo. After breakfast, you drive to Taktsang, the most famous of Bhutanese monasteries which is widely known as “Tiger’s Nest.” On your return journey to Paro, you’ll visit Paro town .
