We too provide the cycling expeditions in Bhutan. Bhutan as is a mountainous country, you will have good experience of climbing uphills and down. With this tour you will be covering 4 western districts. And is relatively and easy cycling from one district to another. And all the cycling will be on road and all the roads are paved. The traffic is not so heavy except between Paro and Thimphu. The cycling route is mix of uphill, down and plain.
Arrive Paro. You will be welcomed by our Guide who will be waiting for your arrival. If you reach early will visit Ta dzong (watch tower) built in 1951 to use as a \watch tower to defend Ringpung dzong and Paro valley during the time of war and converted into national museum in 1967 which recorded in UNESCO world heritage. Unfortunately original museum was destroyed by the earthquake in September 2011 but one can still see a magnificent collection of Bhutanese artifacts like costumes, religious Thangka paintings, arm weapons, and a fascinating collection of Bhutan stamps in new gallery. After early breakfast will hike to Paro Taktsang which is one of the most popular monastery visited by the tourist. It was first built in 1692, around the Taktsang Senge Samdup, a cave where Guru Padmasambhava is said to have meditated for three months in the 8th century. It is believed that Guru Rinpoche (Guru Padmasambhava) flew to this location from Khenpajong, Tibet on the back of a tigress and subdued a demon. He then performed meditation in one of the caves here and emerged in eight incarnated forms (manifestations) and blessed the place. Subsequently, the place came to be known as the "Tiger's Nest". Today after breakfast will cycle to Haa via chelela. It is 3880 m from sea level and the drive is through the blue pine followed by the spruce and hemlock trees. As we reach there will see the dwarf rhododendron and junipers. From there will have a stunning view of Mount. Jomulhari. And also will have a 360 degree view as is on top of to valleys that is Paro and Haa valley.Will have picnic lunch there and then will continue to Haa. In evening will stroll in Haa. Today after breakfast will cycle to Thimphu the capital of Bhutan. Today's distance is longer but more of descend and about 70% of the road is descending and rest is more or less plain. Today will do the cycling in and around Thimphu. In the morning after breakfast will cycle to Tango and Cheri base. Will come back for lunch to Thimphu town and after lunch will cycle to Buddha point where you will see a very big sitting Buddha. And if we get time can do cycling within city. Today after breakfast will cycle to Punakha. The roads are not good at present as road widening works are still going on. Todays cycling will also be mix of ascend and descend. Till Dochula is all ascend. Dochula is the higest point between Thimphu and Punakha. From here if the weather is good you can see the good views of the snow capped Himalayan mountain ranges. Today after breakfast will do cycling to Paro. On the way will halt at Tamcho Lhakhang to see the iron chain bridge that dates back to 15th century. Will have lunch from Paro town. After lunch will visit Drugyel Dzong( The fortress of Victory) which was built to mark the victory of Bhutanese over Tibetan. Now you can see only the ruins of the Dzong. Evening stroll in Paro town.
