After breakfast, your driver will meet you and take you down the Dead Sea Highway, passing some beautiful viewpoints. Then you’ll drive up into the mountains and stop along the way at the Crusader castle of Karak. After free time for lunch in the town, you’ll continue along the ancient trade route of the King’s Way, and pause at Dana Nature Reserve for some great views. You have the day to explore the fantastic UNESCO and World Heritage site of Petra. You can visit The Royal Tombs and make the climb to the viewpoint to look down onto the Treasury as the morning sun hits it. Or perhaps climb up the mountain opposite to the High Place of Sacrifice and take the trail down to the Garden Temple Complex. If you have enough energy, then make the climb up to the largest of Petra’s monuments, The Monastery. After breakfast, a 4x4 will take you on a 2-hour tour of the highlights of this UNESCO site - visit the Nabatean inscriptions, canyons, sand-dunes and Lawrence of Arabia’s House. Today you have the morning to visit the beautiful ruins for Jerash. The car will drive you about 45mins north to see the remains of this Roman city – the Hippodrome, Theatre, Temples of Artemis and Zeus are some of the highlights. I just wanted to share how amazing my time was with Sandra and her horses in Wadi Musa. I arrived in April, with the heavy weight of burdens and in need of some gentle time in the desert. Gamar, Sandra’s first horse, came out and we did some exercise in the yard. Not yet used to me she took her time to come closer. And then she came to me and embraced me, so intently and intimately, like she realized I needed some support and in recognition of what I was going through. And that was day one.
