Arrival at San Pedro Sula, transfer to La Ceiba, Cangrejal area, about 2h00 hour ride.
Breakfast. Ready for a hike at Pico Bonito National Park. Following the Rio Zacate trail, we’ll have a beautiful view of the Caribbean Coast, reaching the Zacate Waterfall. Hiking along the ‘Cordillera Gracias a Dios’, which has its highest peak called Pico Bonito, which will leave you breathless, this National Park has made Honduras famous. In the afternoon, transfer to the Caribbean city of Tela. A little slice of heaven on the north shore, is more than the sleepy town often described. This is where to go on the Honduras Caribbean coast if you want to relax and be near/on the beach and swim in the sea. About 1h30 hour ride. Tela is located half way between the cities of San Pedro Sula and La Ceiba. Originally the headquarters for the United Fruit Company in Honduras, Tela has a largest concentration of Garifuna villages in the World! The villages of Triunfo de La Cruz, Tornabe, San Juan and Miami are only some of the many Garifuna communities around the lovely Bay of Tela. Some of the best beaches in Honduras are found in Tela. Breakfast. Departure at 8:00 a.m. from Tela to Punta Sal, it is a 45-minute boat ride. Jeannette Kawas National Park (also known as Punta Sal) accessible only by water is a great opportunity to enjoy an unspoiled beach, snorkeling, hiking, wildlife and a delicious local style lunch. Offering you the very best of both coastal marine and tropical forest ecosystems, Punta Sal is an excursion of diversity. Traversing the peninsula on foot – through mangrove and tropical forest, you will have an hour to walk around the National Park, with the opportunity to see monkeys, spiders, and butterflies. Following a time of snorkeling in the turquoise waters of a coral reef, you will kick back and relax in true Caribbean-style on the beach of Cocalito, enjoying a typical Garifuna lunch. Breakfast. 8:00 am – Transfer to the colonial city of Copan. On the way visit Pulhapanzak Waterfalls. The 43 meters of waterfall of Rio Lindo, and its cultural importance of the prehistoric settlement traces found in its surroundings makes it a must see destination in Honduras. The trails go very near to the Pulhapanzak waterfall, you will actually get into the waterfall and behind the falling water. Arriving at Copan in the afternoon. Read more
Breakfast. 8:00 am - Tour to the mystical Mayan ruins and Sculpture Museum, where you will be able to witness the ancient Mayan culture. The ruined citadel and imposing public squares reveal the three main stages of development before the city was abandoned in the early 10th century. Copán with its temples, plazas and terraces, comprises a type of architectural complex among the most characteristic of the Mayan civilization. The lengthy inscription on the Hieroglyphic Stairway Plaza is of considerable historical significance. In the afternoon visit to Macaw Mountain. Around 2.5 km outside Copán Ruinas is an extensive private reserve aimed at saving Central American macaws. There are plenty of them here, along with toucans, motmots, parrots, kingfishers and orioles, all flying around in spacious, humanely constructed cages. In the 'Encounter Center' uncaged birds fly onto your shoulders or hands and you can pose for photos with them. Macaw Mountain Bird Park & Reserve offers a first-class experience in an unspoiled part of the world. Here you learn about and interact with the intelligent, colorful birds of Central America. An innovative tropical bird reserve located in western Honduras, which by birds that have been rescued and cares for those who are in danger of extinction in the American tropics. Read more
Breakfast. 8.00 am – Transfer to the Caribbean city of Tela, for your last night. On the way visit to Lake Yojoa, the basin of Lake Yojoa has an area of 43,600 hectares between the departments of Santa Barbara, Cortes and Comayagua. It is the only natural freshwater lake in Honduras declared protected area since 1971. It has a high biodiversity, to date have been counted 407 bird species native birds and migratory birds. Surrounded by the National Parks Cerro Azul Mountain Meámbar and Santa Barbara they are those that provide 100% of the water that sustain the lake. Beautiful place for postcard picture! Read more
