When you think of Sri Lanka, you probably envisage ancient temples, pristine natural wilderness, ruins of old cities, breathtaking scenery, endless tea plantations, and long, white sand beaches. All this and more is included in this 9-day tour, as you venture on a journey through the history, colours, and flavours of a friendly and welcoming country. Perfect for families, small groups, and romantic getaways alike!
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to Habarana. Be sure to bring your cameras!
After breakfast we begin our journey to Polonnaruwa by visiting its ruins and temples, including the famous Polonnaruwa Gal Viharaya. In the afternoon you will enjoy a safari in Mineriya National park,renowned worldwide for boasting the highest concentration of elephants.
After breakfast we set off for the famous Lion Rock of Sigiriya and King Kasyapa’s palace, a UNESCO listed World Heritage site. On our way to Sigiriya, we will stop to visit a batik factory and a local village and venture into the heart of Sri Lankan culture.
Transfer to Kandy. On the way we will stop off at the famous Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple. This is also a World Heritage site hosting several impressive statues and paintings related to Buddha and his life. Upon arrival in Kandy we will venture to a spice garden to learn about curing roots and plants, the basic of Ayurvedic medicine. The afternoon's entertainment concludes with a typical folklorist dance show and a visit to the famous Temple of Tooth, which houses the relic of Buddha’s teeth. Read more
Day trip to Nuwara-Eliya. On our way we will visit the Ramboda Falls and take a detour to a tea plantation, where you will have the chance to savour a cup of tea from the factory after a live demonstration of the process of tea production.
Today we hop on the train to Ella whose route cuts through endless tea plantations and beautiful scenery. Transfer to Hikkaduwa.
Catch your breath and relax at Hikkaduwa beach.
