Fly into Managua international airport, where a NicaTravel Representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel in Granada at Plaza Colon located in front of the central park and Cathedral. Granada, founded in 1524 by Francisco Hernández de Córdoba, ostensibly the first European city in mainland America. Unlike other cities that claim the same distinction, the city of Granada was not only the settlement of the conquest, but also a city registered in official records of the Crown of Aragon, and the Kingdom of Castile in Spain. Walk the streets and stop by the chocolate museum to learn about the Cacao Seed and how it becomes delicious chocolate. Then pamper yourself with a couples massage while our local chef prepares a welcome dinner on the patio out on the Calzada, a cobblestone street stretching about 6 blocks lined with restaurants, bars, and shops. After a delicious breakfast by the pool, what better way to learn about the history of this charming city than to tour by a horse drawn carriage. Lean about the 7 churches of Granada, William Walker, the numerous attempts to burn Granada to the ground and see some of the original buildings from the 1500's. After lunch you'll visit Mombacho Volcano nature's reserve where you'll have the opportunity to enjoy an amazing Zipline experience and hiking some incredible trails. Read more
After breakfast prepare for a day of adventure. Nicaraguan is known for its vast lakes and volcanoes, so you can’t go home without visiting some amazing volcanic islands only 10 minutes from your hotel. Our guide Freddy will be waiting for you on his boat and will take you along the archipelago of “Isletas de Granada.” We will do a brief stop for lunch at one of the islands and pass by the now popular “monkey island” to see a few friendly monkeys. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your leisure. Walk along the main street "La Calzada, sit at the central park, visit local art shops and simply relax at your hotel's pool and enjoy some national cocktails. Read more
Enjoy your morning breakfast at the hotel, take a morning walk and say goodbye to the beautiful city of Granada. Today we will first visit the Masaya Artisanal market where you'll have the opportunity to buy all the goodies for everyone back home. You'll find hammocks, paintings, dresses, jewelry, and large variety of other goodies. At lunch time you'll taste the famous "Baho" a traditional dish of Nicaragua. Today we will let you relax and take your time as you wake up to a breathtaking view of the ocean.
