Zagori (Greek: Ζαγόρι), is a region and a municipality in the Pindus mountains in Epirus, in northwestern Greece. The seat of the municipality is the village Asprangeli. It has an area of some 1,000 square kilometers and contains 46 villages known as Zagori villages (or Zagorochoria or Zagorohoria), and is in the shape of an upturned equilateral triangle.

Our guide will start with briefing and soon we start walk parallel to the main road until to reach the famous bridge of Plakida. After 800 m we cross the bridge of captain Arkouda (that means Bear) and we continue to Dilofo that is one of the most beautiful villages of all Zagori legion. Our day starts from the village of Monodendri and we go to the amazing gorge of Vikos (the deepest gorge according to the Guinness book of world records). After we passed through the village we find the entrance of the path (Monodendri steps) that actually is an old one that is going us to the core of the gorge (1.5 km downhill elevation of 375 m). In the next 9 km we hike to different elevation rates in a wonderful place with big laminated stones. Day starts from the main road that leads to Mikro Papigo. After 800m we follow the path that is going to the bridge of Loli. Less than 2.5 km is a great viewpoint of Kokkino Lithari that is between the pick of Astraka and the Gorge and is very characteristic because of the red color that limestone has. Mikro Papigo – Refuge of Astraka At the foot of Tymfi (attitude 988m.) is the village of Mikro Papigo that actually is the starting point. After crossing the village, climb the well-marked trail that leads to the refuge of Astraka. The climb is relatively smooth after a 5.5 km climb in altitude of 1000 m. Also we find springs of water and a good place to rest and enjoy the view. In the end of the path is the refuge of Astraka in altitude of 1905 m, where we spend the night. We return back to Mikro Papigo after using a different path that goes to the pick of Astraka, (second highest pick of Tumfis Mountain altitude 2432m.). After we past the col that created by Gamila and Astraka directed to the pick for almost 6 km having all the time on our left hand Loytsa Robozi (Seasonal Lake) . For the next 4.5 km we return to the main path (Refuge-Mikro Papigo) that we use for 2,5 km until we complete the day at Mikro Papigko.
