In the first day of the Torres del Paine hike trip, early in the morning a private transfer will pick us up from our hotel in Puerto Natales, and drive through the Chilean Pampas up to one of the prettiest estancias of the area. Estancia Lazo - a huge working cattle ranch – which dates from the early 20th Century and is crowned by splendid views of the Paine Massif and Laguna Verde. Depending on the season, our Torres del Paine hike today will be punctuated by panoramic views of the Park; with orchids, calceolarias and neneos flowering at our feet, and condors soaring overhead. The highest point of this trail connects to a rarely-trekked path from Estancia Lazo to Webber Bridge, in the heart of Torres Del Paine National Park. We’ll begin our second day of the Torres del Paine hike trip with our way through a woodpecker-inhabited beech forest to our boat’s departure point. The hour-long Grey Lake boat trip takes us around blue-hued icebergs to the immense face of Grey Glacier, where we’ll stay for a while to admire its textures, lines and colors. If we’re lucky, we’ll witness a glacial calving, where chunks of ice break off and plummet spectacularly into the freezing waters. On your return journey you’ll glimpse the wind-sculpted “ice mushrooms” atop the massive peaks of Paine Grande. After a picnic lunch on the shores of the Pingo River we’ll start our Pingo Valley hike to reach a viewpoint at “Cascada los Salmones”, a waterfall where salmon are sometimes seen. Be alert as we return: you may see a huemul (Andean deer) hiding nearby. Read more
After breakfast, our transfer will take us to the Lake Pehoe, which we’ll cross via catamaran to the starting point French Valley hike. Today's destination, the French Valley, is a spectacular natural basin surrounded by peaks and hanging glaciers. This is a return French Valley hike, so we will be able to leave our packs behind and trek lightly. We start by walking around Paine Grande, the highest peak in Torres del Paine, through native Patagonian firebush and evergreen beech forests. At the suspension bridge over the French River, the arresting hanging glaciers atop the valley will come into sight. From here, we’ll walk for another hour on this French Valley hike, ascending 300 meters through a dreamlike Japanese garden landscape before arriving at the Valley viewpoint. At the lookout we’ll stop to drink in the French Valley’s dramatic peaks and landscapes and reenergize with a good lunch. Our return French Valley hike along the same track takes us to meet the catamaran to cross Pehoe Lake, followed by a transfer service to our lodge. Your hotel tonight is Hotel Las Torres. Read more
On the fourth day of Torres del Paine hike trip we will visit the Eastern side of the park, Laguna Azul, an enchanting lake bordering the park; home to ducks, swans, coots, and woodpeckers. Here we will take a short walk where we will be blessed with one of the best views of the Towers. After visitIng Cascada Paine and its surroundings, we will head to our hotel located at the heart of the mountains, Cerro Guido, one of the biggest estancias (ranches) of the region. Read more
After your authentic evening in Hotel Cerro Guido, a private transfer will take you through the unforgettable backroads traveling to Laguna Sofia where we will start our hike through Cerro Benítez where we hope to see famous andean condor from close and finishing this nice hike at the Milodon Cave area. The trip was all that I had hoped for. Torres del Paine is spectacular and not to be missed. Although I could have done this trip on my own, I wouldn't have learned all that I did, and the boat trip to Grey Glacier wouldn't have been possible. It was a memorable trip! It was organized perfectly - beginning with Johana, who was always very friendly, helpful when ever there were questions arising prior to the trip or even when urgent support was needed just the night before the trip. I was very thankful and appreciated that a lot! During the trip itself, even though some of the hikes were unexpectedly demanding (but still a joy!), we always had enough time so we didn't need to rush through the park, but enjoy the scenery instead when ever we wanted, and take our time to get from A to B. It is certainly a very special place down there at Torres del Paine, and I'm glad we were able to fully enjoy it's beauty! Read more
