You will be met from your hotel by your guide and taken directly to the local airport for your flight to Nuquí. Nuquí is located in the department of Chocó in the Western part of Colombia between the mountainous area of Baudó and the Pacific Ocean. Nuquí has a great ethnic and cultural diversity as well as a big variety of flora and fauna. Nuquí has 8.096 inhabitants, 3095 of which living in the municipal capital. The majority of the population are Afro-Colombians, another part of the population is represented by members of indigenous tribes. On arrival you will be transferred by speed boat to the El Cantil Eco-lodge for 3 nights (all meals included). It is time to wear your swimsuit and comfortable shoes to start your experience through the jungle with a short walk to the "waterfall of love", where you can enjoy the biodiversity of the flora in the region and also will be time to take a dip! After having lunch and taking a short break you will then continue to venture whale watching in the Pacific ocean. Every year whales living in the waters in the Antarctic of the southern coast of Chile begin their 8000km migration up to the Colombian Pacific coast to give birth and raise their young. The whales are humpbacks often considered the most emblematic of the whale family, growing up to 18m and weighing over 25 tons. The season in Colombia runs from July through to October and this section of Colombian coast is some of the best in the world for spotting these amazing creatures. Read more
After having a delicious breakfast prepared with the typical ingredients of the region, you will be accompanied by your local guide in a 1 hour hiking bordering the beach to the small village of "Termales" where you will enjoy the natural hot springs which are surrounded by the exotic jungle and flora that rises up in the region. After lunch you will take a trip out in to the water of the Pacific looking for the whales, often, due to the density of population they are encountered with considerable ease. You will have time to watch, observe and photograph these mammals. Of all the animal encounters the world has to offer few come close to the sight of a giant humpback breaching in the open water. You will have plenty to keep you occupied with a free day in the Pacific coast, you might want to arrange a boat trip, an expedition through the jungle, surfing, sport fishing, kayaking, paddle surf or just relax at the beautiful beaches in Nuquí.
After breakfast you will be transferred by the speed boat to the airport to take your flight back to Medellín. On arrival you will be met by your English-speaking guide and transferred directly to the hotel Florencia Plaza for the last night. The rest of the day is at your leisure.
