Today visit Soberania National Park. The park is popular with birdwatchers due to its abundance of bird species; some 525 bird species are found here. The park's 105 species of mammals include white-faced capuchin monkeys, mantled howler monkeys, Geoffroy's tamarins, two-toed sloths, three-toed sloths, southern tamanduas, white-nosed coatis, and agoutis. Green iguanas are also found in the park. Today enjoy snorkeling and hiking tour at Cahuita National Park. This tour is done in a 14 person boat, with a captain and guide, around the Cahuita National Park. There, we will go snorkeling for about two hours in the most important Coral Reef of Costa Rica where you could see: 35 different species of coral, 123 species of tropical fish, 3 species of sharks, 6 species of eels, 3 species of sea urchins, 140 of shellfish, 44 cahuita crustaceans, 128 types of algae, sea turtles, sea cucumbers, ocean sponges, lobster, shrimp, among others. After Snorkeling, you will be given a tropical fruit snack plus water and then begin the second part of the tour, which is the hiking in the trail of the Cahuita National Park with one ours naturalist tour guides. This morning depart to the Costa Rican “little amazon”: Tortuguero. We will travel through the scenic mountains of the Caribbean to Guapiles city where a delicious breakfast will be waiting for you. After breakfast continue the journey to La Pavona dock, on route observe the banana plantations, one of the most important production in Costa Rica. Once at the dock board your boat and continue for more than an hour by the Tortuguero river to arrive at the beautiful lodge you will stay for two nights. At your arrival to the Lodge enjoy a welcome drink and check into your room. Lunch is included at the hotel after the check in. This afternoon visit Tortuguero Village, a particular community of 1300 people. The village is a very picturesque placer full of colors, souvenirs, and smiling people. After breakfast depart by boat to La Pavona pork where our bus will be waiting for us to continue to Guapiles to enjoy a delicious lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch continue to the beautiful area of La Fortuna (3 hours), home of the majestic Arenal Volcano, La Fortuna is less than 10 km from the peak of Arenal and less than 20 km from the entrance to Arenal Volcano National Park. Hike along the trails of Arenal National Park we will enter into the tropical forest and areas which were once devastated by the fury of the volcano. During the hike, it is possible to see a great variety the area’s characteristic flora and fauna, as well as sites of interest like the impact craters and on to the Lava slides of 1992, a large accumulation of solidified volcanic material ejected from the crater of this might colossus, during the very active period of that year.
