Breakfast and departure from Meru to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, upon arrival game drive en route to Serena Sweetwaters Camp. Check-in and lunch. Relax and later on afternoon game drive with visit of the Chimpanzees. Dinner and overnight. The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary was established with an agreement between the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and the Jane Goodall Institute. The aim – to provide lifelong refuge to orphaned and abused chimpanzees from West and Central Africa. Over the last decade, Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary has been compelled to keep accepting chimpanzees rescued from traumatic situations - bringing the total number of chimpanzees in the Sanctuary to 36. Many are confiscated from cramped and unnatural living conditions, and many arrive with horrific injuries sustained from abuse at the hands of humans. Breakfast and embark with packed lunches on a full day game drive to spot the animals in this vast conservancy. You can also do an early morning game drive, return for breakfast, have a mid-morning game drive, lunch & relax, later in the afternoon enjoy another game drive (discuss with your driver previous day which option you like to do). Dinner and overnight. Ol Pejeta is home to three of the world’s last remaining three northern white rhinos, and a sanctuary for 113 critically endangered black rhinos. The Conservancy employs highly trained rhino protection squads, partners with international veterinary experts and ensures data is gathered regularly on each individual animal.
