drive to Ambo town which is 125Kms.west of Addis Ababa. Ambo, among other things is famous for its bubbling mineral water, natural hot springs and swimming pool. From this you drive about 32kms.south on a gravel road to arrive at Mt. Wonchi. This mountain is 3,220mts above sea level. The view of Lake Wonchi below this mountain is incredibly fantastic. Lake Wonchi, sometimes called the Switzerland of Africa, is beautifully situated in a steep-sided highland crater which is claded by alpine vegetation. From the crater rim, it takes about 30 minutes to descend and one hour to ascend from the lake. In the central island lies a small peaceful church called St. Kirkos church. One can hire local dugout canoe to reach to this island. A small village, whose inhabitants are Chebo Oromo, has grown surrounding the lake. Next to Lake Tanganyika, the water in Lake Wonchi is the second in its purity in Africa. After the visit of Lake Wonchi, you drive back to Addis Ababa. Read more

Excursions to visit the rock hewn churches of Adadi Mariam where you have the chance to analyze the continuous tradition of Ethiopian rock hewn church building tradition all the way from Axumit time till the time of Zagwe daynasty (Lalibela rock hewn churches). After you eat your launch, you will drive to visit Tiya (World Heritage Site by UNSECO). This site is famous for its ancient monolithic stele which is engraved with some fascinating symbols. Go out for a full day sightseeing tour of the capital which includes the Ethnological Museum in the former palace of King Hailesillassie, the National Museum, the superb Holy Trinity Cathedral, the various historical monuments of Addis Ababa; and Merkato_the (if this day happens to be on Monday-Saturday and not public holiday) largest open-air market in Africa. At first sight this market appears full of chaos and impenetrable mass of stalls, items and people.
