We will take the Pan-American Highway towards the city of Alajuela. In route we will go by the Agriculture Monument, the Monument to Juan Santamaria and the famous Mango Park. As we ascend towards the volcano we will notice the change in temperature and vegetation, preparing us for the pleasure of the exuberant cloud forest of Poas Volcano. At the volcano we will have time to observe the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles. Then we will hike on a trail to the beautiful Botos Lagoon that will allow us to learn about the different ecosystems in the park. We will continue our trip towards the Caribbean, stopping to discover La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a natural park where we will walk through many spectacular trails which will take us to the White Magic Waterfall, the most spectacular one in the area. Inside the park we will also visit the largest butterfly observatory in the country that is known as the house of collections of tropical jewels and the impressive hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, the old house, the bird house & the frogs ex-hibit. Once we have finished our walk we will take a delicious lunch buffet and then begin our journey to La Fortuna, home of the majestic Arenal Volcano. Read more
This morning after breakfast live the experience of Pure Trek Canyoning tour. Pick you up and whisk you off to the canyon, about a 20 minute drive outside La Fortuna. Then transfer to 4x4 trucks for an exciting short drive into the rainforest with spectacular views of the Arenal Volcano along the way. Once you arrive at the ranch house, you are off for a morning of exciting and exhilarating Canyoning. Rappel down waterfalls, a canyon wall, Monkey drop (zip line & rappel) and a rock climb all in our spectacular rainforest canyon. We then take you to to beautiful base offices and tropical gardens for a delicious Typical Costa Rican lunch that will to give you energy to continue your day of adventure. At afternoon visit Baldi Hot Springs, amidst the tropical rainforest, these 25 thermal water pools are filled by crystalline waterfalls. While taking advantage of all the benefits of thermal waters, your children can have fun playing games and using the water slides inside the special kid’s pool. The pool area includes a beautiful and colorful game park, while adults can enjoy the adventure of whirling bowl slide right next to the kid’s area. This night enjoy dinner at Baldi Hot Springs. Its name means "The Old Woman's Corner", a reference to a local legend about a girl whose lover was thrown into the cráter of the Volcano by her father; she became a recluse living on the mountain, and was credited with powers of healing. Breakfast included at the hotel. Today we will depart to Tamarindo Beach. On route we will visit Kiwanda Maji farm, the perfect combination between a working farm, combined with the rich nature that is present in the area to offer several hectares of forest, nature trails, and rich flora and fauna. The property has extension of 180 hectares, some of which have been dedicated to the working farm, and where you may enjoy the farm attractions, combined with the observation of fruit trees that are part of the gardens. During the visit you will find the goats, sheep, horses and donkeys, here you will learn about these farm animals, and its varities. Continue to the milking area and cheese Factory. • The tour around the farm, ends with the visit to the “Hens and friends” gallery. Here, you will learn about laying hens and also about chickens. The area also features ducks, turkey and other animals that live together with the hens. Enjoy a delicious lunch there, kids can also enjoy the restaurant pool and kayaks. The Africa Safari Ponderosa Adventure Park is a private wildlife park of approximately 100 hectares. All animals have an African safari motif with enclosures for animals such as zebras, warthogs and giraffes all of which multiply in the safari. The park also provides zip lines, nature trails through rain forest with a prominent waterfall and a lagoon for kayaking. The vast alluvial plain of the Guanacaste Province and swampy wetlands provide the Safari with an atmosphere that resembles that of certain plains of Africa. Between 30-40 animals are born every year in the reserve. The animal park is the first in Central America with a giraffe born in captivity. Read more
