San Gerardo de Dota is home to a large population of one of the most beautiful birds in the Americas, the Resplendent Quetzal. Join the local guide for coffee, before departing at 6:00 am on a quest to find Quetzals. Our guide, will lead the tour to try and spot one/some Quetzal (s) for you. With its metallic green plumage, crimson breast and bell and its incredible streamer-like feat-hers, watching a male Quetzal in its magical fly, is a unique, breathtaking experience. Breakfast included at the hotel, transportation is provided and you will be picked up at your hotel to start your ride to the Manuel Antonio National Park. This national park is one of the most famous in our country due to its wide variety of flora and fauna. The park has 3 different trails that go from flat to very steep. On this tour a very knowledgeable nature guide will walk you through the Manuel Antonio National Park, explaining the mysteries of the rainforest. The trail you will take is flat and pictures-que and loops through the park making your course about 2 miles long. Throughout your hike your guide will stop and teach you about the park’s natural history, which include exhaustive descriptions of animals and plants that can be observed during the hike. Along the way, you can take pictures or just admire the view. One of the highlights of this tour is that Manuel Antonio hosts 3 of the 4 existing tropical primates living in Costa Rica. Half way through the hike, you will enjoy a leisure stop at the world wide famous Third Beach. Once there you can rest on the beach or play with the waves. This stop is about 20 minutes. This morning depart to the Costa Rican “little amazon”: Tortuguero. Continue the journey to La Pavona dock, on route observe the banana plantations, one of the most important production in Costa Rica. Once at the dock board your boat and continue for more than an hour by the Tortuguero river to arrive at the beautiful lodge you will stay for two nights. At your arrival to the Lodge enjoy a welcome drink and check into your room. Lunch is included at the hotel after the check in. This afternoon visit Tortuguero Village, a particular community of 1300 people. The village is a very picturesque placer full of colors, souvenirs, and smiling people. There are not roads and no cars, the ideal moment to share with the Caribbean culture. After the visit return back to the Lodge. At night, buffet dinner included at the hotel. Read more

The park has a large variety of biological diversity due to the existence within the reserve of eleven different habitats, including rainforest, mangrove forests, swamps, beaches, and lagoons. After breakfast depart by boat to La Pavona pork where our bus will be waiting for us to continue to Guapiles to enjoy a delicious lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch continue to the beautiful area of Puerto Viejo, known simply as Puerto Viejo to locals. The town was originally called Old Harbor until the Spanish central Costa Rican government institutionalized Spanish as the new local language and changed the names of the towns and landmarks in the area from English to Spanish. After a delicious breakfast we will meet our captain and guide who will take us by boat to the coral reef where we will go snorkeling for two hours at two different points in the Cahuita National Park. Next we will start a 1½ hour guided hike through the National Park. This National Park is a combina-tion of beautiful beaches, coral reefs, and a tropical rainforest where you can easily observe many species of monkeys, sloths, frogs, butterflies and more. The coral reef of this park includes about 240 natural habitats. There are 123 different species of fis-hes, 44 species of crustaceans, 140 shellfish and 1281 various algae that have been identified so far. You also can observe 35 different coral species such as fire coral, and the red and black coral which is unique to this area. At the end of the hike, the car will take us back to our hotel in Puerto Viejo. Read more
