The Guna Indians suffer from high rates of albinism (1/100), "SOS ALBINO" regularly conducts prevention campaigns and medical missions in the archipelago. You can participate in this cause by making donations of sunscreen, long sleeve t-shirts , hats and sunglasses. IMPORTANT: Accommodations are rustic and traditionally built. Comfort levels do not correspond to western standards. Housing is managed by the Guna Yala community and there are some facilities that won't be available during your stay such as: acclimatization, current potable water, electricity and hot water, private toilet. The most comfortable accommodations in the archipelago will offer private bathrooms and electricity solar power. bungalows or traditional huts are made of local palm roofs on the sandy soil. Some other huts have incorporated local wood or other materials... The importance of your stay will be primarily an encounter with the Guna Yala community.
