NEW DELHI

After morning breakfast, do a full-day guided city sightseeing of Delhi. The capital of India is a true reflection of the old and new of India. We start our morning tour by visiting the famous India Gate - a war memorial dedicated to the thousands of Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting in the battle during the World War-I and the Third Anglo-Afghan War. Spend some time taking photographs at the war memorial, followed by a drive past through the Houses of Parliament and Connaught Place. Iconic to Delhi, the two attractions offer an inviting view of the British colonial era architecture. Arrive at Old Delhi, here you will enjoy a rickshaw ride and explore the hubbub yet the charming side of the old part of Delhi. Visit the 361-year-old Jama Masjid - the largest mosque in India with a courtyard that can hold up to 25,000 devotees. The elegant looking mosque with onion-shaped dome and minarets was commissioned by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, who built the famous Taj Mahal. Moving ahead in your tour, you will drive past the UNESCO World Heritage site designated Red Fort - [Closed on Monday] that served as the imperial residence of the Mughal dynasty for around 200 years. Built of red sandstone, the construction of the fort took nine years to complete, which started in 1639. Enclosed with massive high walls, the fort is a wonderful structure to admire. You will now proceed to Humayun’s Tomb, a magnificent garden tomb, and the first to mark the grave of a Mughal emperor. It was built in 1565 A.D. by Bega Begum - senior widow of emperor Humayun, nine years after his demise. The arched exterior facade is inlaid with bands of white and red sandstone, and Islamic geometrical style strictly dominates the building’s structure and design. Lastly, proceed to another World Heritage Site in Delhi to Qutub Minar – a brick minaret towering 72 meters into the sky, 15 meters diameter at the base and a mere 2.5 at the top. Built in 1192, Qutub Minar is the highest single tower in India, and perhaps the tallest minaret in the world. The 5 storey tower is made of marble, buff and red sandstone, in a honeycomb design; beautiful Arabic verses are carved on the walls. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel. Read more

NEW DELHI - AGRA

Distance - New Delhi to Agra ( 220kms / 6hrs) Leisurely breakfast at the hotel. Check-out from the hotel and drive to Agra. Agra: On the right bank of the river Yamuna, Agra reigns over a glorious past created by warriors as skilled in art and architecture as they were on the battlefield. The city’s historical origins before the Mughal conquest are dim and was practically founded by the Mughal Emperor Babur. To the lover of art and to the traveller seeking the wonders of India, Agra is the goal of a pilgrimage, its shrines being the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Upon arrival check-in at the hotel. Later, proceed to visit Agra For, the foundation was laid by Emperor Akbar in 1565 and continued till the time of Shah Jahan. The tall red-stone monument stretches for around 2.5 km dominating a bend in the river Yamuna northwest of the Taj Mahal. The palace is notable for its smooth blend of Hindu and central Asian architectural styles. Later, proceed to visit Taj Mahal, the seventh wonder of the world built by Shah Jahan as a memorial to his wife Mumtaz Mahal by the banks of the river Yamuna. After her untimely death, Shah Jahan had her mortal remains buried in this mausoleum. And after his own demise, he was placed to rest next to his beloved queen in the same mausoleum. The Taj Mahal has been called the most extravagant monument ever built for the sake of love. The great monument took almost 22 years to build and was completed in 1653. Around 20,000 workers from all over the country and central Asia were recruited to translate this dream into a reality. (Taj Mahal is Closed On Fridays) Overnight stay at hotel. Read more

AGRA - RANTHAMBORE

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning, check-out from the hotel and drive to Ranthambore. En-route visiting Fatehpur Sikri. Fatehpur Sikri- 37 km west of Agra lies the ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri - an epic poem in red sandstone, built by Emperor Akbar the Great in 1569 and deserted 14 years later because its water supply failed. Its glorious courtyards and palaces conjure up dreams of the mysterious past. Buland Darwaza, the victory gate looms 134 feet high. There’s the imperial Jami Masjid, the tomb of Shaik Salim Chisti who predicted the birth of Akbar’s son Jahangir, the Panch Mahal - an extraordinary four-storied columnar structure which resembles a Buddhist Temple, a cloistered courtyard which was the Hall of Public Audience, and the Pachchisi paved with black and white where the emperor played chess using slave girls as figurines. After the visit, continue your drive to Ranthambore. Ranthambore National Park Approach - Ranthambore, covering 410 sq. km. running from the easternmost spur of the Aravallis to the Vindhya Range. It has both the old fort and the wildlife sanctuary also known as Sawai Madhopur. Famous for its tigers, the park is one of the best places to spot the majestic predators in their natural habitat. The National Park is 10 km east of Sawai Madhopur town with the approach along a narrow valley. The path to the fort zigzags up the steep outcrop in a series of ramps and through two impressive gateways. The fort wall runs around the summit and has a number of semi-circular bastions. This, combined with the natural escarpment produces sheer drops of over 65 m in places and stunning views. There are two tanks, a palace and pavilion and a few temples inside the walls. All are in various states of disrepair but there are good views out over the surrounding countryside to warrant the effort of reaching the fort, and it is a wonderfully peaceful place. JAIPUR SIGHT SEEING

After breakfast, start your day by visiting Amer Fort which is located in the town of Amer. It is approximately 6 miles near Jaipur. This town used to be the capital of the Kachhwaha clan, till Jaipur was made the official capital. The Amer Fort is built in white marble and red sandstone. The interior of the Fort provides a soothing and warm ambience, which is least expected from its outer appearance. The marvellous decoration of the Amer Fort is influenced by both the Hindu and Muslim manner of ornamentation. Get enthralled with the experience of going on the elephant back while ascending the fort and stroll back to your vehicle. The excursion then takes you to the awe inspiring Jantar Mantar – an astronomical observatory. Jantar Mantar is the largest stone astronomical observatory in the world. The observatory has fourteen statistical instruments for measuring time, predicting eclipses and to ascertain other astronomical events. Among all the instruments, the sundial usually attracts the maximum attention of people, it tells the time to an accuracy of about two seconds in local time of Jaipur. The next stop is at the Hawa Mahal or Palace of the Winds, the shape of which can be likened to a crown or a beehive. It has a pyramid-shaped facade with five stories and 953 small windows decorated with tiny latticework. The air circulation through the windows represents the marvellous touch of Mughal designing, which keeps the palace cool. The small screened balconies and arched roofs with hanging cornices enhance the beauty of the Palace. The Pyramidal outline and replication of pattern make it more attractive in appearance. Finally, the excursion takes you to the City Palace, which is outstanding in its art and architecture. The 18th-century complex covers a huge area, which is divided into a series of gardens, courtyards and buildings. A part of the exquisite palace still makes a home for the former King. The premises consists of several buildings as also the City Palace Museum which exhibits rare and exquisite Hindu scriptures, and Rajasthani, Mughal and Persian paintings. After a long day of excursion, return to your hotel to relax or make a casual visit to the market. Overnight at the hotel. Read more

I am very pleased with my tour! Everything was perfect! I am very glad with the high quality of the hotels, the guides, the drivers, the representatives, the tours, the transportation. I didn't have a single problem nor disappointment during the 15 days. It was pure magic. Therefore I congratulate you for the quality of your service and you can be sure that I will recommend you 100%. As stated, everything was perfect and all the people involved were knowledgeable, but I want to recommend three of them (although all were excellent). - Vivak was the most helpful and nice guide. He helped me through the chaos at the train station en Jhansi, waited for the delayed train to come, helped me to find my seat and was always interested in my well being. Very nice guy all the way. - My driver for several days during the second part of the tour was incredible skillful, prudent, patient and nice. You couldn't get a better driver and companion. - My tour guide in Udaipur. He was the better listener. I told him what I needed and wanted, and he tailored the tour to fulfill my needs and interests, instead of overwhelming me with information. He should be an example for other guides. In brief, I loved the tour! And I am VERY PLEASED WITH YOUR SERVICE. Cheers! Read more
