Stop in Buna Spring on the way to Mostar

Continue towards Mostar, one of most beautiful cities in Bosnia. First, visit village of Blagaj. Blagaj’s highlights are the Buna Spring and the adjacent Ottoman house/ monastery. The spring is amazing. It flows out of a 200m cliff wall and single-handedly creates the Buna River. Unsurprisingly, the Ottoman sultan was impressed, and ordered a tekija to be built right next to it. This 16th century house/monastery was built for the Dervish cults and is still one of the most mystical places in all of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Continue to Mostar and enjoy this fantastic city. We will see the restored old bridge on the river Neretva, also known as the “melting pot of cultures”. Predominantly influenced by the centuries of Turkish rule, the tall, slim minarets reaching for the sky, cobbled bazaar streets with the rhythmic tapping of hammers against copper plates being transformed into pretty souvenirs and houses with ornate wooden balconies will all remind you of times gone by. Unique experience: Šargan Eight

In the morning, drive by a narrow-gauge heritage railway in Serbia, running from the village of Mokra Gora to Šargan Vitasi station. At the end of the First World War, the 57 Km stretch between Uzice and Vardiste was the main missing link in a continuous 76 cm railway between the state capital Belgrade and the Bosnian capital Sarajevo. Its construction became a priority for the new state of Yugoslavia. The most difficult task was how to build a railway over the Sargan mountain which did not need a rack section or excessive gradients. The climb over the Sargan Mountain was an engineering masterpiece. From Uzice to the summit the height difference was 240 metres. As the crow flies it was 3.5 Km but by rail it was 15.4 Km. The average gradient was 18% (1 in 55) and there were 20 tunnels including the summit tunnel of 1,666m. Enjoy this special drive through the mountain. After return back, drive towards Belgrade. Free time. Read more
