9 Day Highveld Outdoor Extravaganza

The highveld extravaganza tour is a fully customised tour we built for a client who wanted to get the most out of their 9 day trip to Northeastern South Africa. What could be better than taking in a safari and enjoying the many options on offer in and around the city. The highveld tour is jam packed with goodies including a hot air balloon safari, Soweto bicycle tour and Magaliesberg mountain hike. Highly recommended for adventurers and those wanting to take in as much of the adventure culture as possible on their trip!

ITINERARY

Fetch you from the airport

The highveld tour is either a 8 or 9 day tour depending on your arrival. If you arrive late we will fetch you from the airport and check you into a guest house for an early start on day 2! Dinner (R125 pp) included.

Human Origins Tour

Today we travel to the cradle of humankind in search of our earliest roots. The official visitors centre (Maropeng) means "returning to the place of origin" in Setswana, one of South Africa's 12 official languages. The cradle is a World Heritage Site and is a tribute to the 3 million years our ancestors have lived in this area. Along with the exhibits and fascinating interactive displays we also explore the Sterkfontein caves. A large number of early human fossil discoveries have been found here. Elephant Sanctuary & Harties

We visit the elephant & monkey sanctuary today and get an opportunity to interact with some of Africa's most magnificent creatures. We'll also take a trip up the Hartebeespoort cableway for some thrilling views of the countryside before returning to Johannesburg. Breakfast (R125) included.

Soweto Bicycle Tour

We have teamed up with Sipho Tati, a resident of Soweto, to offer a fascinating Soweto bicycle tour. Sipho is passionate about riding, bicycle repair and teaching the community how to ride, no matter your age or gender! A tour with Sipho will take you through different neighborhoods of Soweto. You'll have a chance to speak and spend time with locals in their various community centres. This half day tour lasts about 4 hours. Make sure to bring sunscreen and some positive vibes. Read more

Depart for Pilanesberg Natio

We depart Johannesburg today for the safari part of the tour. The drive is a mere 2.5 hours and on arrival we take 30 minutes to settle in to your safari tent before we go hunting for the big 5! Lunch will be at a picnic spot within the park. We can relax but still enjoy the peacefulness of nature around us. We'll return to camp for a brief rest if the heat of the day is too much before departing for an afternoon drive once again. Dinner this evening will be at the restaurant. Highlight Hot Air Balloon Ri

The highlight of the tour starts this morning as we book you onto an early morning hot air balloon ride! What could be better than viewing wildlife while riding high among the clouds? The flight is approximately an hour and on landing, sparkling wine is served. A leisurely game drive is then taken through the park to the game lodge where breakfast is served, after which guests are returned to their chalet. We take some well deserved rest time before a late afternoon game drive or alternatively visit the Sun City Resort. Dinner at the restaurant this evening and then lights out! Morning Game Drive & Explora

We like being flexible for our guests. An early morning game drive is ideal for day but if you prefer to sleep in we can arrange a mid morning drive instead. The beautiful Magaliesberg mountains will be the scene for the day as hike the medium or longer trail, depending on how you feel. We grab some great views of the countryside here before heading back for some well deserved leisure time in the afternoon. Breakfast & dinner provided.

Magaliesberg Canopy Tour

On our final day we head out to visit this ancient area from the cliffs and skies. It's not uncommon to see impala, wildebeest and zebra as you make your way up to the take off spot. This takes roughly 4 hours, once done we return you to Johannesburg and the tour ends. Breakfast included
