Tamang Heritage Trek Langtang Nepal

Tamang rituals, Tibetan culture, festivals, traditional architecture, costumes, local Syabru dances make the exposure to this culture very unique. There is a view point at Goljung Pass, from where views of Langtang and Kerung can be awe inspiring. Visitors will get an opportunity to observe Syabru, Mane and other local dances. The villages also sell exclusive handicraft items like traditional caps, mufflers, and other items. Hot spring bath.

Arrived Kathmandu Nepal

Arrive in Kathmandu and you will be received by our company representative and transferred to the selected hotel. A short brief about your trip. Stay overnight in hotel.

DAY 2

Sightseeing Kathmandu Valley

City sightseeing tour to world heritage sites; Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambhunath(known as a monkey temple among westerners).The area has an amazing range of fascinating highlights, whatever your interest. Excellent bookshops, extensive markets, and novelty and handicraft shops contrast with fantastic centers of cultural and spiritual significance - Kathmandu has more World Heritage sites than any other city in the world. DAY 3

Kathmandu to Syabrubesi

After an early breakfast we drive north from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi. Parts of the road are sealed and the condition of the road often depends on the monsoon season. We will travel via Trisuli Bazaar where the dam and hydroelectric project was completed by the Indian Technical Mission. Finally we drive on to Syabrubesi and spend a night there. DAY 4

Syabrubesi to Gatlang

After two to three hours of ascent from Syabrubesi we reach a view point where we gain fantastic views of the Ganesh Himal, Gosainkunda range and Langtang Lirung. We head down to Goljang valley (lunch stop) which is an hour walking down hill from our view point. Today we walk through many villages and along the trails there are numerous Buddhist chortens and mani walls. Gatlang is a beautiful Tamang village that is set high on a hillside among terraced fields. Stay overnight in lodge or home. Stay overnight in home or Teahouse. Read more

DAY 5

Gatlang to Tatopani

Today, our trek begins by descending to Thangbuchet, near Chilime village by the Bhotekoshi River. Chilime Hydropower dam is situated here. After Chilime, we start to ascend first by crossing a small hanging bridge and continue until we reach Tatopani. Enroute, we have outstanding views of the Langtang Range and Ganesh Himal. Tatopani literally means ´hot water´, where one can cleanse in the natural hot springs. Locals believe that the waters have a healing quality that eases away your aches and pains. DAY 6

Tatopani to Thuman

This will be the longest trekking day. This morning we climb to Nagthali which is at the height of 3165m, which was once used as a popular meditation center for the local monks and priests. This is the highest pass of the area, lies in high open grassland and offers panoramic views of snow covered Langtang Lirung, Kerung, Ganesh Himal and Sanjen Ranges. We descend down to Thuman, a heavily Tibetan influenced Tamang village. If we are lucky, we might come across large troops of Nepal Gray Langur Monkeys. The ancient monasteries and houses adorned with rich wood engravings here are an unforgettable experience. Stay overnight at Teahouse. Read more

DAY 7

Thuman to briddim

Walking through rhododendron forests and meadows we trek towards Bridim, another Tibetan influenced Tamang community located in the bosom of the Langtang Himal. About 43 houses are spread in Z shape. Most of the houses are made up of stone and have roofs of split shake. Here, we may meet other trekkers on the Langtang trail. Stay overnight in Teahouse. Read more

DAY 8

Briddim to Lama Hotel

Today, we trek from Briddim to Lama Hotel. The trail descends to Ghopche Khola which is a small stream. Then we ascend to Lama Hotel via Rimche. Lama Hotel is located on the banks of the Langtang River and surrounded by lush forests and amazing mountain vista. Overnight in Lama Hotel.

DAY 9

Lama-Hotel - Langatn Village

After breakfast, we embark on our trip to the Langtang Village. Our trail continues alongside dense forests. After climbing up steadily through the valley, we leave the tree line behind us. On the way, we also enjoy the marvelous views of Langtang Lirung, pass by water mills, prayer wheels and chortens adorned with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. DAY 10

Village to Kyanjin Gompa

After breakfast, we leave Langtang village and walk through yak pastures. Today, we also pass the largest mani wall in Nepal which is made from stone with prayers written on them. It is believed that the prayers on the mani wall spreads around by blowing winds. We cross several wooden bridges before reaching Kanjin Gompa which is beautifully surrounded by the mighty Himalayas. We can take a walk around the Kanjin Gompa enjoying astounding views of glaciers, icefalls, birds and yaks. Overnight at here. Read more

DAY 11

Back to Lama Hotel

We trek back to the Lama Hotel. Since the trek is only downhill, it will only take us around 4 to 5 hours to reach our destination. It is a downhill trek through forests and alongside a beautiful mountain river. On the way we pass through the ethnic settlements of the Tamang people whose religious and cultural practices similar to the Tibetans. Overnight in Lama Hotel. Read more

DAY 12

Back to Syabrubesi

Today is the last day of trekking. After breakfast, we trek down to Syabrubensi which will be an easy trek through lush green vegetation. After reaching Syabrubesi, we enjoy lunch and celebrate the completion of our trek. Overnight at Teahouse in Syabrubesi.

DAY 13

Back to Kathmandu.

After breakfast, we drive back to Kathmandu. After arriving in Kathmandu we take a rest at our hotel or stroll in the streets of Thamel, a popular tourist hub for some souvenir shopping. In the evening, there will be a farewell dinner hosted by Himalayan Glacier to celebrate the successful completion of our trip. Overnight in Kathmandu. Read more
