With this trip, you will have the unique opportunity to experience Myanmar off the beaten track. Through local encounters, you get insights into the real everyday life. They listen to the young monks at the evening prayer and take an exciting train ride over the legendary Gokteik Bridge. They dine at the nuns in Nyaung Shwe to make contact with the ethnic Pa-Oh minority and the soft trek to the village. Fly back to Yangon for departure flight.

ARRIVAL MANDALAY

Upon arrival at Mandalay International Airport, you will be received with a warm «mingalabar» and transferred to your hotel. Just before sunset, it is called "City of Immortality" after Amarapura. The first thing you can do here is a stop at a weaver known for its exclusive products. Continue to the Mahagandayon Monastery and as soon as the sun begins to sink, a short walk will take you to the legendary U Bein Bridge. MANDALAY - YANKIN HILL

Visit the royal city of Mandalay, including the Mahamumi Pagoda, the Kuthodaw Pagoda, often referred to as "The World's Greatest Book", and the Shwenandaw Monastery. To the east of the Mandalay Forts is the Yankin Hill. When visiting a monastery, you will gain insights into the monastic life and practice a little English with the monks. Afterwards, enjoy a unique view from the top of the hill (about 45 minutes ascent). Again, you will listen to the monks' evening prayer. Return to Mandalay. MANDALAY - PYIN OO LWIN

Numerous remains of the colonial period, such as brick and half-timbered houses, can still be found in Pyin Oo Lwin. First, you should visit the local market with its many flowers and colorful vegetable varieties. Then take a traditional horse-drawn carriage ride through the city. Stroll in the botanical garden with its 432 hectares of land. On the way back, you should not forget to stop at the notorious Candacraig Hotel, which is the oldest hotel in Myanmar. PYIN OO LWIN - GOTEIK VIADUC

Transfer to the old British train station for an enchanting train journey with the Mandalay-Lashio train over the impressive Gokteik Bridge, built by the well-known Pennsylvania Steel Company at the beginning of the 20th century when Burma was still part of India. At noon, the train arrives at Naung Pain Station, from where you will return to Mandalay. Train journey: 2 hours, 54 km; Driving distance: 4,5 hours, 130 km Packed lunch on the train. MANDALAY - MONYWA

This morning we will have an exciting trip to Monywa. On the way, stop at the Thanboddhay Pagoda, a huge temple that shelters more than 500,000 images of Buddha. In the afternoon, cross the Chindwin River and continue to Po Win Taung. The breathtaking 947 sandstone caves, which are located in the surrounding mountains, include the best collection of murals and Buddha statues throughout Southeast Asia. MONYWA-PAKOKKU-BAGAN

After breakfast, drive along the river to Pakkoku. This path takes you through some authentic traditional villages, where you will still see peasant palms climb up to siphon the juice so you can produce palm tree sugar from it. In the afternoon, take a local boat which takes you downstream to Bagan. On the way there you will stop at the Kyauk Gu U Min Temple. OPTION: HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE OVER BAGAN The morning will start off with an exciting hot-air balloon ride above the Bagan countryside. You will observe one-of-a-kind views when the sun begins to rise over the Irrawaddy River and various stupas in the region. You’re simply not going to find many other opportunities like this on Earth. (Only available from October/November through March) The majestic Bagan is one of the highlights on every Myanmar trip and will delight every vacationer. Climb to a surrounding temple and enjoy a panoramic view of the plain of Bagan. From here, head to the Ananda Temple and the village of Myinkaba. Flight to Heho and drive to Inle Lake. On the way you have the opportunity to visit workshops specialized in the traditional manufacture of Shan paper and handmade umbrellas. In Nyaung Shwe you visit a nunnery to get to know the everyday life of the nuns. For lunch, they will prepare a delicious lunch for you in their small kitchen. In the afternoon you will go on boats and sail across the freshwater lake. On the way, stop at PhaungDawOo Pagoda and in a weaver village. Driving distance: 1 hour, 30 km Lunch at the nunnery. After breakfast, you will board a more wooden motorized boat and drive across Lake Inle, one of Myanmar's most spectacular and breathtaking sights. They paid a visit to the morning market at the lake. A one-hour boat trip down a small canal takes you to the Inde-Pa-Oh village that is located on the western shores of Inle Lake. DAY RETURN TREKKING - INLE LAKE

Even before dawn, enjoy the silence of the morning and a fantastic sunrise with a hot cup of coffee on the lake. On the way they stop in one of the surrounding villages and watch the busy morning village life. After a strenuous breakfast, your hiking tour begins through picturesque scenery. On your way you pass some remote Pa-Oh villages, which have hardly seen foreigners yet. Afterwards, you will return to the lake, where your boat is waiting for you. After breakfast drive to Heho airport. Flight to Yangon and transfer to the hotel. In Yangon, visit the Kyaukhatgyi Pagoda. Afterwards, make a short stop at Kandawgyi Park, which is very popular with the locals. Take a look at the Karaweik Hall, a reproduction of a royal barge and enjoy the view of the Shwedagon Pagoda.
