10 Days Lewa - Samburu - Masai Mara Kenya Safari

Vast and highly complex, the Northern Frontier District stretches across much of the top of north-eastern Kenya and is the home to a number of remote tribes. The Samburu, the Cushite Rendille and their camel trains. The Turkana and Pokot also continue to live in this inhospitable land as they have done for centuries. Although not as heavily populated as the southern regions, the wildlife populations of the Northern Frontier are healthy and you have the opportunity to see rarer species such as wild dog, striped hyena and Grevy zebras. This 10-day safari is combination of northern frontier reserves of Lewa Conservancy and Samburu together with the southern, famous Masai Mara Game Reserve.

ITINERARY

Arrival Nairobi Kenya

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport, you will clear with the immigration and customs procedures. You are then met by Hallmark Travel Planner' escort and transfer to the respective Nairobi hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight at the Tamarind Tree Hotel.

Fly to Lewa Conservancy

After breakfast, pick up from your hotel and transfer to Wilson Airport for your scheduled morning flight to Lewa Downs. The flight is approximately 1 hour 40 minutes to Lewa Downs. Upon arrival at the airstrip‚ you will be met by a driver/ guide who will transfer you to camp as you enjoy viewing the rhinos just before check in. After lunch you will depart for a late afternoon game drive or enjoy other activities offered at the camp. Lewa Safari Camp has open game drive vehicles. This day is for safari activities within the Lewa Conservancy. The conservancy is home to about 10% of Kenya’s black rhino population and the single largest population of Grevy’s zebra in the world. Activities include day and night game drives and walking safaris, as well as horse riding.

Morning and late afternoon game drives in Reserve. The Samburu National Reserve is a game reserve on the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro river in Kenya. On the other side of the river is the Buffalo Springs National Reserve. In the middle of the reserve, the Ewaso Ng'iro flows through doum palm groves and thick riverine forests. It provides water, without which the game in this arid region could not survive. The Samburu National Reserve was one of the two areas in which conservationists George Adamson and Joy Adamson raised Elsa the Lioness made famous in the best selling book and award winning movie Born Free. After breakfast, check out of the rooms. With your luggage packed, drive to the airstrip with a brief game drive. The flight back to Massai departs at 1000 hours to arrive Maasai Mara at around 1130 hours. Pick up by the lodge or camp vehicle and transfer to the lodge. Lunch at the hotel. Relax at the lodge or camp till 1630 hours when you proceed on a game drive till sunset.
