EBC Chola pass Gokyo Trekking Nepal

Gokyo valley is the remote Himalayan Valley which offers the view of the mountains, Glaciers, Gokyo Lake etc. During the trek, you also get the chance to enjoy the Dumje festival which falls in the month of April and Mani Rimdu Dance, which is performed in the monasteries, of the Sherpa people. The major highlights of this trek are the mountain vistas, Sacred Lakes of Gokyo valley, beautiful River valleys, glaciers, crossing Chola pass, Everest.

DAY 1

kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding

In the morning you have a scenic flight to Lukla (2800m.) from Kathmandu. It takes 30-40 minutes to reach Lukla. Then you start your trek and head to Phakding. You descend steeply to the Tharo Koshi which is also known as Kusum Kangru Khola (river). After crossing the Tharo Koshi River through the suspension bridge, you climb to Ghat and continue climb to Phakding. In Phakding you can climb to the Gompa to see your first view of the high peaks. DAY 2

Phakding to Namche Bazaar.

This day at first we follow the Dudh Koshi River and reaches Zamphuti. From here you can see excellent views of Thamserku peak. Then you ascend to Chomoa, the site of an agricultural project, an interesting place to have a look around and gain an insight into the farming way of life of these people. From Chomoa, we continue our walk uphill and enter the Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park (1148sq km, established in 1976) at Monjo (2840m.). We continue our walking up hill with mountain views and finally reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight at teahouse here. Read more

DAY 3

Namche Bazaar rest

Today we take rest for the proper acclimatization with some excursion. We can hike to the Everest View Hotel, the ideal place to overview some of the outstanding mountains such as Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Lhotse etc. You can walk around the Khumjung valley, Hillary School and Khunde Hospital and then return back to Namche. In Namche Bazaar you can spend some time interacting with the fun-loving Sherpa and Rai people. Overnight at teahouse. Read more

DAY 4

Namche to Tengbuche

This day we leave Namche bazaar and walk for some time along the ridge and then descend to Dudh Koshi River at Phunkithanka. Then after crossing the bridge we ascend in the steep path up to the Tengboche. On reaching Tengboche you will see the local monastery. Tengboche have largest Monastery of Khumbu region. DAY 5

Tengboche to Dingboche

At first we descend to Debuche, cross suspension bridge on the Imja Khola, and then climb to Pangboche amongst thousands of Mani stones. Our uphill trek continues, taking us to the quaint traditional Sherpa village of Dingboche with its exquisite views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam. Overnight at Teahouse. Read more

DAY 6

Dingboche Rest Day

This day is also rest day for the proper acclimatization. We hike to Chukung valley and then to Chukung-ri (5445m.) from where we can see the wonderful View of Makalu, Everest and their surrounding mountains. We finally return to Dingboche. overnight at Teahouse.

DAY 7

Dingboche to Lauboche

Today, the trail continues along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and passes by stone memorials for climbers who have perished on nearby summits. We continue to climb as we are heading to the altitude of 4910 meters at Lobuche which is really just a few huts at the foot of giant Lobuche peak. Overnight at Teahouse. Read more

DAY 8

Lauboche to EBC to Gorakshep

This is another big and difficult day walk along the Khumbu Glacier and up to Everest Base Camp at 5365 meters, the closest you can get to Mt. Everest without mountaineering equipment. There will likely be a team there about to attempt the summit. The view of the Khumbu Icefall from Base Camp is spectacular. We return back to Gorak shep for the night Read more

DAY 9

Gorakshep to Dzongla

Most of morning in this day is spent climbing Mt. Kala Pattar, a small peak (by Himalayan standards) at 5555 meters. The ascent is demanding but the climber gets the most magnificent mountain panorama: Everest, the highest point on the planet at 29028ft, 8848 meters, towers directly ahead and on all sides loom the other giants, Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse and countless others. DAY 10

Dzongla to Thangna

This day at first we walk on the flat stone path for some time passing through arid valley. Then we ascend in the steep path to Chola pass in the icy trails along Chola glacier. After we reach Chola pass we descend down on another side through the stony path until we reach Phedi. From there we climb down up to Thangna. It is a small village with few lodges and tea shops. You can catch a glimpse of Machhermo peak and some others. Overnight at teahouse. Read more

DAY 11

Thangna to Gokyo

We walk along the glacier route until we reach first Lake of Gokyo. The trek is easier over flat path following Dudh Koshi River up to Gokyo. It is a windy valley and situated near the third lake. At Gokyo you are stunned by the natural beauty of Dudh Pokhari Lake. Overnight at Teahouse.

DAY 12

Gokyo to Dole

Spend a day in Gokyo strolling around the lakes and hiking up to some of the mountain viewpoints nearby. Start your trek in morning and get to steep climb of about 30min to reach the top with its traditional prayer flags. View the Ngozumpa glacier, the biggest glacier of Nepal. Definitely we would not miss the chance to observe the fourth lake (Thonak Tsho) and fifth lake (Ngozuma Tsho). From where you will have a magnificent view of highest peaks, from the west to east are Cho you (8,153m), Gyachung Kang (7,922m), Everest ( 8848m), Lhotse (8,501m) and further way Makalu. At afternoon trek down to Dole. It is possible to climb a ridge behind Dole for an even greater view of the valley. Read more

DAY 13

Dole to Namche

The trail first descends steeply out of the valley through beautiful rhododendron forests. We arrive in Phortse Thanga and crossing the river over a suspension bridge. We ascend up a sandy slope to the Dudh Kosi River. The route ascends to the valley of Dudh Koshi and down to Khumjung. Finally we reach the Namche valley. Read more

DAY 14

Namche to Lukla

The descent from Namche to the Dudh koshi can be the hardest stage of the entire trek. The trail descends over the ridge past rocky cliffs and scattered pines to the tiny village of Tokthok. Although the path is all downhill, the unrelenting slope places massive impact on the knees. Once you cross the high suspension bridge, the path runs mostly level. DAY 15

Lukla to Kathmandu

Saying final goodbye to our porters, we will have a flight back to ktm of an exciting one hour. (It also can be a spare day in case of bad weather in Lukla which makes the Lukla flight delayed and cancel.) At the evening you can have your last night in Nepal enjoying the Nepali cultural dinner show exchanging greetings among friends and with all Nepalese people. You can buy some souvenirs. Rest day in Kathmandu

Today you will have a free day in Kathmandu valley. Have some rest in your hotel. You can also take a leisurely stroll over the streets and buy some souvenirs and remembering from Nepal. At evening we will have a typical Nepali dinner accompanied with cultural shows. Overnight at Hotel.
