Head to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. First, check in the hotel, followed by guided walk through the medieval Old Town and see the main attractions such as the Triple Bridge, St. Nicholas Cathedral, and more. When arrive to Dragon Bridge, we ascend to the top of the hill by cable car where mighty Ljubljana Castle stands. Shorter multivision presentation of Ljubljana and Ljubljana castle. After breakfast drive to famous Bled and visit Bled Lake and Bled Castle. The castle stands on a rock approximately 100 yards above the lake with wonderful views of the town, lake and surrounding countryside. The castle museum has a large collection of armor and weapons from the 16th to 18th centuries. After descend from the castle, time to try worldwide known cream cake. Afterwards, pletna boat ride to the island where you can ring the wish bell and continue to traditional restaurant where famous honey lectar hearts are created. Have late lunch here. After breakfast continue to Pokljuka plateau, biggest and highest karst plateau in Europe and one of most beautiful alpine pearls of Slovenia. This day will be dedicated to explore western part of Slovenia, known for production of fruit and wine. Driving from Bovec early in the morning. Arrive to Goriska Brda, known as Slovene Tuscany and center of top quality Slovenian wines and world-awarded olive oil. Both we will have chance to try by ourselves. Visit Smartno, center of cultural life in wider area of this part of Slovenia. In small village of Biljana visit of sparkling wine cellar and tasting of sparkling wine produced with a classical method in the renovated chateau with 800 years old wine cellar dated from 1208. Tasting is held in renovated tasting room with splendid views on the vineyards and Italy. If we have time, possibility to drive to the top of the hill of Sabotin with fascinating view, where you can still walk through tunnels and where one of most devastating battles in WWI took place. Continue drive to Nova Gorica where the last members of the Bourbons, the French royal family, are buried in a crypt beneath the church. Near the church there is a garden of burbon roses, the second biggest collection of burbon roses in Europe. Driving further to Vipava Valley to small town Vipava, also called the Slovene Venice, developed beside numerous springs of the Vipava River, which is internationally renowned for their extraordinary location, their water and speleological characteristics. This wonderful natural heritage is enriched by cultural attractions, especially the castles. The oldest one is Stari grad, which stands on top of a steep hill above the square and dates back to the 12th century. Castle Zemono, a 17th-century manor house in Vipava Valley, is our next stop. Built on a small hill features unusually style for this area, built in the Palladian style with a rectangular floor plan. The renovated building is surrounded by a park and vineyards. Finish a day in unique atmosphere of exceptional dinner, accompanied by wines of extraordinary quality and taste. From Vipava drive to Karst area, where surface water doesn’t exist. The reason why is limestone area and therefore all water is beneath the ground. First, visit fantastic village Goče, known as the most basement village in the world. Finger food at Cejkotova home which is hidden in the narrow streets of the village, which is protected as a monument of the cultural heritage. Here, Davorin and his wife Jelka will prepare you home-made snack and take you to a wine cellar with amazing, mystic atmosphere. Continue to Karst area where we shall visit some of most typical Karst settlements which are specially adapted to specific life and weather conditions. We will explore some of those villages; try some local wine teran and top specialty – air-dried ham pršut. Karst is also known for world-known autochthonous white Lipizzaner horses which are bred in Lipica stud farm. Sightseeing of Lipica stud farm, one of the top 5 Slovenian tourist attractions.
