Great Migration and Zanzibar (December to March)

This tour is ideal for people that want to see the famous great migration in Tanzania as well as predators and eventually enjoy the beautiful beach in Zanzibar. People taking this tour will see lots of newly born animals. lots of big cats and have very high chances to see hunting predators. This tour is best if done between December and March when the great migration is in Ndutu (Southern Serengeti). The unique thing about Ndutu is that it is the only place where off-road driving is permitted to enable guests observe the adventures up-close.

ITINERARY

Arrival

After a long flight to Tanzania, we assume that our guests are tired. So on this first day will only transfer them to the lodge for a rest. A free town tour can be arranged on request. All meals and overnight will be in Arusha.

After breakfast drive to Arusha national park for a morning game drive. In this small but beautiful park of the slope of Mount Meru you will have opportunity to see lots of rare black and white colobus monkeys, giraffes, antelopes, flamingos in the lake and many more. You will also visit Ngurdoto crater which, has amazing scenery. Arusha national park is also the best place to see Mount Kilimanjaro (the highest mountain in Africa). After your picnic lunch you will do canoe ride in Lake Momela to have an opportunity to see the pink flamingos up close. After breakfast you will drive to Mtowambu town on the floor of the Great rift valley, for a guided village tour. In this small but very busy town where people belonging to all 120 tribes in Tanzania live together you will have opportunity to see typical daily life of Tanzanians. Your walking guide who comes from that area will take you to rice and banana plantations where you will interact with the people working in their farms, you will visit a traditional beer bar/factory, you will visit a school and carvings factory where the famous “makonde” use ebony black wood to carve different statues. You will then continue to Manyara wildlife camp for lunch. After lunch you will depart for game drive in Lake Manyara national park. In this small but very beautiful park with dense forest you will have opportunity to see lots of monkeys, giraffes, elephants, impalas, dik dik, flamingos in the lake and if you are lucky you may spot the rare tree climbing lions. After breakfast you will drive to Ndutu for game drive then continue to Ndutu Mbugani camp for lunch. In the afternoon depart for game drive in Ndutu area. This is the area along the boundary of Ngorongoro and Serengeti where the great migration is supposed to be between January and April. It is where these millions of animals will drop their young ones in February because the area is open and has highly nutritious grass. This is the highlight of your entire trip and you will expect to see lots of excitement like hunting, chasing, young ones being born etc. You will have two nights to explore this special area where off road driving is permitted to allow you observe these adventures up close. Day spent relaxing at the beach. Alternatively the lodge organizes activities like village walk, scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing and others that you can book and pay directly. All meals and overnight will be at the resort.

After breakfast you will do a spice tour, then visit the historical Zanzibar Stone town. In the late afternoon you will return to the resort for dinner and overnight.
