After breakfast, you will enjoy a tour visiting the historical center of Mexico City, one of the largest UNESCO World Heritage Cities. The tour includes major attractions such as: the Zocalo (main square), the National Palace with the murals of Diego Rivera, the Metropolitan Cathedral, as well as a panoramic view of the Templo Mayor, the City of the Aztec culture, with over 2000 years of history. Continue the tour through Chapultepec Park, driving along Paseo de la Reforma, and at the end, visit the National Museum of Anthropology and History. The Museum is a must visit in the city. The range of exhibits is exceptional and the architecture is simply superb, making this visit an unexpected pleasure. You will find impressive masterpieces such as the famous Sun Stone, or Aztec Calendar, segments of several pyramids, and many original masterpieces of the ancient Mesoamerican Cultures. This museum is one of the largest and most beautiful in the world; nevertheless it will be just a one hour visit. After reakfast, visit the Basilica of Guadalupe, a catholic religious center which was built to replace a Spanish construction of the 17th century. The old church still exists, but every day it sinks further into the swampy ground. The devotion to the “Dark Virgin of Guadalupe”, is so widespread that many Mexicans refer to themselves as “Guadalupanos”. Pilgrims arrive to this important basilica daily, some traveling on their knees in devotion. After visiting the basilica, continue to the Pyramids of Teotihuacan. This ancient Aztec archaeological site was the most populated in the central valley around Mexico City. Do not miss Rosary Chapel, a magnificent example of baroque architecture and inspiration of the stunning Temple of Santa Maria Tonantzintla, gorgeously decorated by indigenous hands 20 minutes away from the city of Puebla. After Breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel and take to a City Tour where you also will visit Santo Domingo Museum and the Archaeological Site of Montealban Oaxaca is a great cozy UNESCO World Heritage City, built in the middle of mountains of the Sierra del Sur, rich in art and crafts: you can acquire the famous black mud ceramic and jewelry, colorful looms or the replicas of Mixtecas and Zapoteca jewels. Around the main Square you will find the Cathedral, constructed by the Dominican monks in the 16th century, as well as the Church of Santo Domingo that was part of a convent, now transformed into one of the best museum of colonial and pre-Colombian art, and where there are valuable objects from Monte Alban archeological site. Visit the former convent of Santa Catalina de Siena and the incredible market, one of the most typical in the region, where daily hundreds of people get together to offer their particular products, tradition that goes back to the pre-Hispanic times. Notes: ***Museum is closed on Monday. Monte Alban It’s a largest pre-Columbian center and archaeological site in Oaxaca, its name means “Sacred Mountain of Life”. Monte Alban is 10 km far from the city of Oaxaca, at a height of 2,000 meters, located in the mountains of the Sierra del Sur. This is the religious capital of the Zapotec culture. There, you will visit the Great Square, the Ball Game, the Palace, the South Platform, the Dancers stelas, and the tomb 104, where the so-extended dead worship in Mesoamerican pre-Hispanic cultures is demonstrated. After Breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel and take to Tule, world’s thickest tree with 2000 years old. In Teotitlan del Valle, artists of the loom have copied works by great artists, including Picasso, Escher, Matisse, Miro, Rivera among others. Visit the Archeological Site of Mitla, a unique example of decorative stone mosaic inlay in distinctive geometric patterns that were masterfully created by the builders of this historic site. Continue to the beauty of nature like it is Hierve el Agua as the sounds that they are thermals waters they are not, they look like that because they are high in minerals. The zapotecs believed that it was a holly place. Visit the factory of Mezcal where you will see the process to get this taste.
