Embark on your Cote D'Azur hike and discover the different faces of this city in the Nice trip, and the Baie des Anges (Bay of Angels) by strolling along the Promenade des Anglais, the symbol of the golden age of sea bathing. Our route is of course flexible today, it is a loop and it is all a suggestion only. Also on this Nice trip, you should walk up the Paillon River, largely covered today by the city, to discover the classical city and its villas which today are home to beautiful museums. Next on the Nice trip you should then walk up the hill to Cimiez, with its sumptuous villas and palaces to reach the ruins of the ancient Roman city and the monastery of Cimiez. Taxi transfer from Nice to the citadel of Villefranche de Mer (with its houses clinging to the hills and arranged in tiers) offers a view of one of the most beautiful bays in the world. The real walk starts here. After visiting St. Elme citadel, you will discover the old town with countless streets, squares and ornate stairways. Next on the Cote D'Azur hike climb up along old streets to admire the magnificent panorama, and the Chapel of the Black Madonna, before reaching Beaulieu, an oasis of calm and for you, rest. Huddled around the Bay of Ants (Baie des Fourmis in French) at the foot of hills that protect it from the north winds, this coastal city is one of the warmest places to live on the Riviera. Palm trees, banana trees, orange trees, and lemon trees all blossom in beautiful gardens along the boulevards. You must visit the villa Kerylos, a faithful replica of a sumptuous Greek manor house. Loop of 15 km to explore the ‘peninsula of billionaires’. A simple fishing village in the late 19th century, St Jean Cap Ferrat is now a trendy resort dotted with superb villas. You’ll follow the coastal path which, from the beach at Passabe, makes its way through the limestone cliffs and beside sharp reefs to the lighthouse of Cap built by the Sardinians in 1827. Next on the Cote D'Azur hike, to the coves and along the beach edge, you will climb to Saint Hospice Point, crowned with a chapel and a monumental bronze statue of the Madonna. The trail then heads to the port of St John with its mix of prestigious yachts and simple fishing boats. You will get back to Beaulieu on the top of the isthmus to discover the magnitude and beauty of an idyllic site whose symbol is the Rothschild family villa and its beautifully landscaped park. Discover your next destination on the Cote D'Azur hike, as this part of Beaulieu has magnificent gardens and sumptuous Belle Epoque villas that accommodate their often illustrious British or Russian guests. Exotic plants, known for their fragility, flourish here in a profusion of colors and scents! You will climb to the Plateau St Michel where there are the remains of some traces of 2000 year old habitation, as this was on the Aurelian Way in Roman times. You will then descend into the valley of St Michel on the north side, and be struck by the immediate contrast in vegetation. You will reach Eze sur Mer then climb again up historical old paths in scrubland to the heights of Mount Bastide. Then you’ll descend through the shady side until Eze Village, a charming medieval city, clinging to a rocky outcrop, dominated by its castle ruins and a beautiful botanical garden. You descend to the sea by the famous Nietzsche Path, in memory of the philosopher who lived for a long time here. Taxi transfer to Monaco, and your hotel where your bags will have been delivered. Next on your Cote D'Azur hike you will discover this small state that clings to the steep cliffs of the Rock of Monaco and owing to centuries of public works, reclaimed hectares from the sea. We offer a Monaco tour through the city to discover the old town with its oceanographic museum, the exotic garden, the cathedral and the royal palace. You will cross La Condamine shopping district to reach Monte Carlo, whose name alone evokes gambling, casino and luxury hotels. Ending the Monaco tour, spend night and breakfast in the city. Following the Monaco tour experience, you will leave the city to climb to the village of La Turbie, built on a high ledge on either side of the Via Augusta, the Roman road that led from Genoa to Cimiez. Here stands the Trophee des Alpes, huge monument Augustus built in 76 BC to celebrate his victory over the Alpine peoples. Admire the Roman masterpiece and enjoy the splendid panorama that stretches to the Italian city of Esterel. You will continue your Cote D'Azur hike walking on the hills to reach the ‘Massif of the Dog's Head’. You walk along the cliffs of the Loubière and descend to the Cap d'Ail by some portions of Roman roads. Taxi transfer to the beach in Roquebrune. You will reach the Pointe de la Vigie and walk up to ‘Our Lady of Good Voyage to discover the majestic bay below and the sumptuous villas clinging to the sides of the cliff. You will again head towards the sea to the old village of Roquebrune, perched on a rocky spur and dominated by the imposing castle built in the 10th century by the Counts of Ventimiglia. You’ll return to the coast passing by the chapels of St Roch et de la Pausa, built in the 15th century to ward off a plague that ravaged the coastline. The coastal path allows you to discover the wild side and pass the Cap Martin which houses some of the beautiful villas of the coast, all embedded in a high pine forest. Some gardens contain plants from the four corners of the world; Asia, Australia and elsewhere ...The Serre de la Madone has some very few rare species, some of which are totally unique! The Orthodox Church testifies that the city was very popular with Russian colonists in the early 20th century and many museums remind us of the history of the city and the region and that Menton has attracted and still attracts many artists.
