Arusha National Park (walking and game-drive safari) Depart Arusha at 09.00 am for a 30 minute-drive to Arusha National Park. Here you will participate in a half day walking safari and a half day game drive. You will be accompanied by an armed ranger for the walk, who will guide you through the forest up to a waterfall and the view point to see the black and white Colobus monkeys. Tarangire National Park Following breakfast you will leave the lodge and drive for about 90 minutes to Tarangire National Park. This park is often referred to as the "home of elephants". Here, you will have a great chance to spot elephants in large groups gathering around the Tarangire River. Other animals to be spotted include leopards, lions, giraffes and even tree-climbing pythons! Lake Eyasi After breakfast depart your lodge and drive to Lake Eyasi. It is only a 2-hour drive to the Mangola village or Lake Eyasi. Eyasi is a mildly alkaline lake stretching for about 50 km (31 miles) to the southwest. To the northeast, as far as your eyes can see, the horizon is dominated by the impressive Crater Highlands. To the north the plains of the Serengeti. This area is inhabited by small groups of bushmen - the Hadza and Watindiga, who live in groups hunting with bows and arrows and gathering roots, tubers and wild fruits; much as humankind lived in the Stone Age. Over 100 years ago, when the stronger Masai tribes moved into the Ngorongoro and Serengeti, the tribes made the area around Lake Eyasi their home. Another interesting tribe in the area is the Datoga. These are the last remaining tribes of bushmen in East Africa. You will get to visit bushmen homes and hunt with them. Spend a full day game drive in Serengeti looking for animals and wildlife. After breakfast, take a guided walk through the Mto Wa Mbu Settlement where you will visit the rice farms, fruits farms, a kindergarten and the local market. If you are still energetic, continue to Miwaleni Lake which is full of papyrus reeds, where bird life is both varied and in abundance. Mto wa Mbu is the only place in Tanzania where you can find people from all 120 tribes living in such a small region but keeping their individual cultures.
